My ds who is 14nths has just fell and banged his head on the bottom of his sisters bunk beds. He now has a very big red and purple lump on his forhead just above his left eye. He seems o.k, didn't even cry much, but he won't let me put a cold cloth on it. What else should i do ????

sorry am idiot! I found that site and it says about head bumps. Keep an eye on his eyes,(changes in pupils), watch out for vomitting and watery fluid from the nose and ears. Hope he is o.k but if you are worried take him to A+E. ++++++++++++++

If he seems okay and not dazed then just keep an eye on him for the next few hours. DD (22months) fell yesterday onto an iron girder - running with a newly found friend. She cried for a minute but then went of to play. She also wouldn't let me touch it - sore I guess - but was fine all day. She now has a great bruise and bump on her forehead though which looks great

JUst watch him and take your cue from then. When he has a nap use that as an opportunity to have a better look too.

Thanx Angeliz - He seems o.k, is playing on the floor with his sisters, toddeling around as normal. I think it probably looks alot worse than it is. I wasn't in the room when he did it, so i'm not exactly sure how hard he fell.
Will look out for all the things you,ve described.
The redness seems to be going down already. Great big purple bruise though.

Thanx Hulababy. You'd think i'd know what to do with him being my 3rd, but his sisters have never had such a nasty bang.

Thanx Twiglett, yeah he cried and then carried on playing, so i don't think it's bothered him that much. He cried more when i tried to put the cold compress on.

Good to hear he seems okay nutcracker. I dispair of DD at moment. Yesterday she hit her head onthe girder, pulled a cup of tea (luckily cooling) on her, and fell flat on her face on the floor at home.

They are amazingly resilient(sp)
, glad to hear he's o.k+

Will prepare my self for the "oh god what's he done to his head" accompanied by the accusing glances

Good idea
Could send a photo to the housing and say "look, if we had more room he wouldn't of tripped in the first place"

It's obviously going to be one of those days, he's just walked in to the door too. He thought it was really funny though, and fell over laughing.
