What could this be? I'm getting worried :-(

I guess I need to go to the doctors, but I don't think my doctor likes me, and I was there a couple of weeks ago for something totally unrelated and I think he already thinks I am a hypochondriac, which I really am not! So does anyone have any ideas about what this could be? I am a really panicky person and am jumping to all sorts of grave conclusions and am getting really upset. Sad

For the last couple of weeks I just haven't been feeling 'right'. Lack of energy, dull abdominal ache and back ache (baxk ache is fairly common for me but this feels different?). I have also been weeing loads, but haven't increased my water intake? Other than in pregnancy I don't get up in the night to wee, but the last couple of weeks I have been getting up 3-4 times a night for a wee. (Driving me mad!) I can't even explain it really, but I just don't feel well?

My mum said maybe it is a UTI, but surely it would hurt when I wee if it was that? I know I need to go to the doctor really, but I really don't want to. I know that makes me sound like a child!

Any ideas? My panicky brain is driving me mad and google is giving me horrible answers which are really freaking me out Sad

Anyone?

Sounds like it could be a uti/kidney infection, it doesn't always hurt when you wee.

Either way best go to the docs and DON'T GOOGLE! as it always brings up horror stories. I could type in I have a headache and it will diagnose me with a brain tumor. so again, please don't google! :)

Justshabbynochic · 16/09/2013 13:14

Kidney infection I'll bet. Espesh with the need to go more and dull back ache. You need antibiotics...fuck your doctor if he doesn't like you, ring the practice and request someone else.

Drink lots in the meantime. Feel better soon. Thanks

Thank you for your replies Smile

I have bitten the bullet and called my surgery to ask for an appointment and they asked why I need to see a doctor. I told them my symptoms and they said to drop off a urine sample today and they will test it and if necessary can prescribe antibiotics without needing to see my doctor. Fingers crossed it is nothing to worry about. At least I might not have to see my doctor!

Okay, urine test was fine, so back to square one. The doctor said to wait a few days and then do another urine sample if I still feel the same.

Panicking again now.

just book appt and don't tell reception the reason. dont panic. a wise gp once told me 'rare thing happen rarely'

PacificDogwood · 16/09/2013 21:43

Go and actually see a doctor - you know, face to face.
What can random stranger on an internet forum tell you?
So your urine sample did not show infection, that's good, but you still feel the same.
By all means repeat it in few days, but if you are still the same GO AND SEE YOUR DOCTOR. Yes, I am shouting.
A trained professional should take a full history and perform an examination.
Don't tell a receptionist 'I think I might have a urine infection' when there is more to it and one urine culture has already come back negative.

And FWIW, whether or not your dr 'likes' you should really not come into it.
If you are not comfortable seeing him/her, can you see another dr in the same practice or change GP?

Doodledumdums · 16/09/2013 22:05

That does sound very wise cjel!

Yes I know, I really should go and see a GP shouldn't I. I just hate going though, I get really anxious and find it really humiliating. I would ask to see a female doctor as I find that slightly easier, but last time I did that I got ticked off as they said that my problem didn't require a specifically female doctor. I should change GP's really, I think my issues would be less if I didn't feel like he disliked me! (I know that makes me sound REALLY childish!)

Sometimes I wish I was a GP and then I could diagnose myself.

Just book for female if you want. Nobodies business why. don't explain to anyone but GP.
Good idea to train as GP, although I don't think it will be in time for this bout of illness so may be better if you get to see someone who has already trained?Smile

cocolepew · 16/09/2013 22:15

My mum had a suspected uti but her first sample was clear. Her dr told her to do another after two days and it showed up then.

Doodledumdums · 16/09/2013 22:18

Haha, very true, that would be some feat if I managed to train as a GP in a couple of days! There is also the issue that I think it is possibly the job that I would be worst at in the entire world!

Yes true, it really should just be between me and the doctor shouldn't it. If it makes me feel better about going then I should just ask to see a female regardless of my reasons why.

Thanks Smile

Oh that's reassuring coco (not that a UTI is a good thing, but just hopefully easily treatable so I was rather hoping that is what the problem is!) They did say that a morning wee is more likely to show something up, but the sample I gave was mid afternoon, so maybe in a couple of days something will show.
