Wednesday - very minor car accident (no head rest, non-retractable seatbelt) impact from front side

Thursday - constant spasm in shoulder. Evening - neck pain, growing in intensity

Friday - hospital - xrays show loss of cervical lordosis but no fractures etc. Given muscle relaxant and painkillers, told to see orthopaedist if no improvement in 2/3 days

Friday night - sick in night (put this down to meds at the time)

Saturday - nausea, pain as Thu night/Fri, despite painkillers.

Saturday evening - pain same but nausea eased off

Sunday - less pain in neck and shoulders, but intense pain in ribs and middle back - sometimes sudden. Feels like a cross between being winded and not having eaten for days

I'm not a doctor and google is frightening me. I fully intend to go back to the hospital tomorrow, but do I need to tonight? (An in GMT+8hrs time zone) Is the rib pain expected in these circumstances, or something to be worried about?

Thanks in advance

Dial 111 (nhs direct) and ask

LoopyLoopyLoopy · 15/09/2013 13:28

not in UK

Oh sorry I missed the time zone thing, is there not a similar service available to you? We can call a doctor through our home insurance policy, strangely enough, and through our employee assistance programme at my work.

LoopyLoopyLoopy · 15/09/2013 13:30

No, sadly not. Thanks

Are you pregnant? Or just concerned about own health?
I don't mean this in a rude way, just trying to understand.

If not pregnant then I would imagine it's bruising from the accident that's taken a little time to develop and if it wasn't really bad straight away then it's probably nothing to worry about.

LoopyLoopyLoopy · 15/09/2013 13:43

Not pregnant. I really don't think it's bruising. Are you a doctor?

Recent communication from the GMC has prevented doctors from posting on internet forums, so you may not get many, if any, responses from doctors.

LoopyLoopyLoopy · 15/09/2013 13:50

Oh I see, thanks. Not sure what to do though. Sure I'll be fine. Thanks :)

What are the emergency medical provisions like where you are? Do you have a 111 equivalent?

LoopyLoopyLoopy · 15/09/2013 13:55

No 111 equivalent. The hospital isn't far, but I have a baby, a toddler and guests, so popping in in the morning is definitely the best plan as long as it's fine to do so.

Loopy.

If you are still in so much pain that you need to ask people who cannot possibly help, you should be going back to hospital now, putting your needs first instead of those of your guests.
