Just a bit of info for everyone with SPD! YOU NEED TO FIGHT FOR THE CORRECT TREATMENT AS SOON AS YOU ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. As I have now been informed I have the more serious condition of Diastasis Symphysis Pubis where the bone separates. Nine and a half months after having my DS1 I have just been to see a pain specialist who did an xray (a little too late in the day) and I actually now have wear and tear along the bones that separated. I was in a wheelchair after pregnancy and kept asking for scans and xrays, then they sent me to physio without doing an xray!!!!
I am just so angry and something needs to be done to safeguard future patients, there should be some form of standard practice for women with SPD or DSP.
I have now had injections for pain relief, which aren't really helping yet, think I need more in different places around the area!
Even though you are pregnant you can have an ultrasound of the area just to ensure the bones haven't separated, I have done some research an read an article about Epidural Anaesthesia during pregnancy to help with the pain, ask for a scan after your baby is born before you go ahead with any form of physio.
What is so annoying everytime I spoke to my physio I said I was stil lgetting pain on doing exercises, all she said was "You should'nt be getting pain" and left it at that!!!!
