Anyone had an endometrial ablation?

Good afternoon ladies -

I'm looking for good (and bad!) stories from anyone who's had this procedure done for very heavy periods.

I'm 35, don't want any more children and don't want to use coil / pill for various reasons. I suffer from incredibly heavy 8-9 day periods that are ruining my life and this operation seems like a good option. My consultant put me on medication to reduce the bleeding which did help a bit but made me feel totally drowsy and incapacitated for several days a month - couldn't work / drive etc

Can anyone advise? Did you have a local or general anaesthetic? Did you suffer any long term side effects?

Thanks!

mmm, I had it done and it went disastersly wrong, ending in infection. I ended up needing a hysterectomy at 39, sorry

I had one 8 years ago aged 44 and can't believe the difference it made to my life. Periods stopped immediately, day case under GA.

Had EA NovaSure Ablation on August 14, was gushing out blood after procedure, cramping pain last 2 hours than gone , I didn’t have to take any pain meds.
Light bleeding for 2 weeks, than light bloody dc for 1 week, than stop for 3 days. Day 23, started period again. Heavy periid with clots and still bleeding today is 9/9/20. Will consult with my obgyn tomorrow during post op appointment. The nurse said sometimes, it will gradually slow down

I had it done 6 weeks ago due to chronic iron deficiency anaemia. It was a day case, no pain or bleeding just some watery discharge. First period was a bit of spotting, hopefully things carry on like that!

When did you have the hysterectomy and did you take antibiotic to treat the infection? My obgyn gave me Iv antibiotic during the EA.

What a job getting a user name. Sorry about that ladies. I had a microwave ablation twenty years ago and will be 70 next month. I am still getting hot flashes and night sweats. My hormones seem to be all over the place. I wouldn't even bother going to my doctor as I've been a patient of hers for 25 years and she doesn't know who I am. Anyone else experienced this? I just want to know if it has anything to do with the ablation?
