is it the colposcopy appointment? Usually they do it there and then under local, burnt off, you can go on as normal fairly quickly as long as there's no problems.

I had mine under GA, Had it completely cut for biopsy, but was home two hours after the OP and barring a bit of bleeding I could go about business as normal.

I had my husband with me, but I dont think you need anyone to take you home after a routine appt.

As far as I remember from a few years ago, a colposcopy doesn't hurt. It's barely more unpleasant than a smear, although it takes a bit longer.

They suggest that you bring someone with you, just in case you feel a bit wobbly afterwards, but I went by myself and I was absolutely fine - and walked 20-30mins home. They also suggest taking the rest of the day of work, but I think I'd have been fine to go back in after maybe having an hour or two off to have a cuppa.

If you don't find smears too bad / upsetting, you'll be fine. The only thing I wasn't expecting was the - sorry if TMI - faint smell of cooking flesh as they burn off the cells.

I had a colposcopy and abnormal cells burnt off, I think the treatment is called lletz. It didn't hurt as is done under a local (so you may feel a slight sting from that but no other pain). DH came with me but I would have been fine without him. I would imagine you'll be fine to get the bus home. I took some painkillers an hour or so after as I was worried I would be in pain after the local wore off, but to be honest the only pain I felt was a dull ache in my stomach.

I bled lightly for about 4 weeks, although my period was due in that time so part of it was probably that. It took a few months for my periods to get properly back to normal afterwards.

Good luck, I'm sure it will be fine. My results came back clear and I've been put on 6 monthly smears for now to keep an eye on it.

I had to have cells burnt off and I drove myself there and home. I don't remember any pain or bleeding afterwards, I may have done but I can't remember. What I do remember is the doctor injecting the local anaesthetic up my fanjo and the pain was exquisite. Sorry. Be prepared!

For me I had quite a large area removed so it was very painful afterwards it felt just like after I had given birth and I would not have been able to catch the bus home.

However because I did not have clear margins from the first time I had the procedure done again this time under GA and that time I felt absolutely fine with no pain at all and that would be because I had barely anything removed as no abnormality found that time.
