Cyst on eyelid, advice please

I have a cyst on my eyelid

GP said this morning it may need surgical removal.

has anyone else had a cyst here and can advise as to what this might entail, or does anyone have any other remedies to reduce/remove it please?

It's just starting to get itchy too, which is annoying

TIA

I had that years ago. Had it removed surgically. It was done in the doctor's consulting room, not in a hospital. He gave a local anaesthetic injection and then used a sort of clamp thing to make sure the eye stayed open. Then he just used a little scalpel thing to cut it away very quickly and put a bandage over the eye. It wasn't the most pleasant day of my life but was all over very quickly. Good luck!

Is it a chalazion? I had one of these and managed to get rid of it without surgery. It is caused by a blocked oil duct and you need to 'melt' the trapped oil by applying heat several times a day. I bought a heatable eye mask online and then cleaned the area with special wipes called Lidcare. The cyst took several weeks to completely clear up and seemed to come back again a couple of times. I got the chalazion because I have a chronic condition called blepharitis.

Yes, years ago. Removed in the local eye unit. It was right on the lash line and did leave a gap which was very slow to fill in. I'd forgotten until now so it's obviously grown back now!

Hmmm, it doesn't look like a chalazion at the moment banished but if it gets bigger it might. Thanks tor the heat treatment idea, I might try that anyway.
