can my son use a brown budesonide/pulmicort inhaler along with flixonase nasal spray (corticosteroid)?

went to docs yesterday with ds2 who has been getting pains on and off in his chest. said it was nothing to worry about but i forgot to mention that i have started giving him brown inhaler again because it's hayfever time and has caused him wheezing in the past.

my other worry/ question is that on my other sons nasal spray NASONEX (corticosteroid) it says avoid anyone with measles or chickenpox and consult doctor if you do. why????

would that be the same for flixonase? ds2 already has a low immune system and also hasn't had second mmr due to bad reaction.

As far as I know yes you can give both drugs at the same time but be sure not to give over the prescribed dosage. They act in a similar way in the body. With regard to contact with infectious disease this is because prolonged use of steroids hamper the immune system but if your DS has a lowered immune system anyway it would be best to try and avoid these things. See your gP for further advice. Hopefully his 1st MMR will have given him good coverage anyway, what does your GP advise re; the booster?

i was advised to give him the booster but i haven't even given him the pre-school booster because i am too worried about it.

when he was prescribed the nasal spray he wasn't on the inhaler but i decided to start giving him it again the other week and had one in the cupboard from before.

just found some info on google which says that children on steroid nose sprays would be at risk of measles being more serious or fatal!
now, i am worried!
i can't sleep for anxiety as it is.

Measles is , contrary to popular belief, a serious disease anyway and is sometimes fatal. What did you google to get that result I've had a quick go and can't find any papers that state that nasal steroids specifically increase the severity of measles.
Maybe you should have the pre scool MMR ? YOu would then may be more reassured about his immunity or get his immunity levls checked if you don't want to jump in with the MMR.

i put in flixonase chickenpox and also budesonide.

it seems to me that anything corticosteroid suppresses imune system. think i will stop giving the inhaler and just use the releiver one.

he has had the first mmr.is the booster just repeat of the first? therefore likely to react again?

I don't know festiveface but both mine reacted to the first MMR but not the booster

also, dd has been on becotide (for asthma) for ages - don't think the effect on the immune system is nearly as bad as oral steroids. The inhaled stuff tends to have less side effects because it goes into the lungs rather than into the bloodstream (I think).

I wouldn't stop any of his medication without calling the doctor. Could you just phone and ask him/her what to do?
