Burn advice please

I burnt my forearm this afternoon carelessly reaching into the oven which was super hot as I was cooking Yorkshire puddings :(. It made a searing sound, heard by both me and DH who was nearby! I immediately ran it under a cold tap for about 15 minutes and have had it covered with bounty-wrapped ice and clingfilm for the last 5 hours. I've now just got it in loosely wrapped clingfilm, I've taken painkillers but it's still really quite sore. It looks like it thought about blistering but didn't quite do it, red around the stripe and a bit purple-ish and baggy in the line of contact.

Is there anything I can do? Should I still have ice on it? Thank you for any advice Smile

ouch , might be worth getting practice nurse or pharmacist to check it . Otherwise I used a cooling gel (Acriflex) and burns plaster when I burnt myself on breadmaker.

Drink plenty. Take pain relief. See the practice nurse at your surgery or minor injury unit to dress it. You can buy non stick burns dressing from the pharmacist if needed. Hope it is less painful today.

Thank you :-). I got burns plasters in Boots, gel-type things, they're great, stopping even the air from hurting it! I tried to show the pharmacist but the assistant was having none of it and said it didn't look too bad Grin. It's a dark purply colour and not scabbing because of the plaster which seems to be the idea, hopefully it won't scar too badly and it'll be a long time before I do it again!

I'd ask GP or nurse to check it I think, just in case there';s any problem. I've never had anything that bad - apart from losing eyebrows and scorching nose and lips when relighting gas oven - but since then have had an aloe vera plant in the kitchen. The natural gel inside the leaves can be squeezed onto small burns to relieve pain &prevent scars.
