My husband just got the operation in April, he was told to take ibrofen and if possible to buy a splint for his hand, he found hanging his hand out of the side of bed to be the comfiest as it woke him every night!

Anything leading to the cause, or is it degenerative ?

The tests are fine, had them myself, just like little pin pricks of electricity.

Main issue is alleviating pain, so try a hand/wrist splint to relieve the pressure/swelling. You also need to identify the triggers. If it doesn't clear up, then the operations work well.

I had this in both wrists after DS1 - in the end I had the operation-while I waited though splints really helped especially at night.

I had it just after I had DS1, and while painful for a bit, it gradually stopped (I think it was about the time I stopped bf) and I have had no problems since, even with DS2.

Having said that I now have tennis elbow (Dr thought it could be CTS, but thinks tennis elbow) and it is not great! Ibroprofen is what she recommended (tablets and gel, but maybe not at the same time). I am going to book a physio appointment.

I had a scaphoid fracture 9 years ago and I'm told its as a result of my wrist deteriorating

Are the splints recommended -I'd worry about muscle wastage if I'm not using the joint?

My husbands surgeon suggested he bought on and only to be worn at night!

The only thing that helped me was the surgery which was fantastic.
