Period every 2 weeks....???

Hi I'm hoping someone could shed some light on what's going on with my crazy body? I seem to be having periods every 2 weeks. A few years ago I was diagnosed with low AMH but managed to get pregnant very easily despite this. Is this the start of menopause? I'm only 35 so hope not...I suspect I need to see the dr but any experiences of this would massively help. X

I have this happen occasionally, once or twice a year I get a 15/16 day cycle. I'm 40 (just).

My cycles for the last few months are 23, 24, 23, 25, 23, 22, 15, 22

I use a free app called p tracker to keep a log, is useful and could be something to show the dr.

Seems early for menopause. To be honest I've never mentioned it to my dr, I did to a friend who is a doc, she just pulled a face and said I was most likely too young for menopause, she didn't comment further!

Thanks lucjam. My cycles have always been short but never this short!

I had this. There can be many reasons. Go to your gp. They will do some tests then refer you to gynae.

Thanks. Have an appointment this Friday. Any steer as to possible reasons?

I'm 39 and have had short cycles since my periods returned after DS2. A couple of weeks ago I started having pelvic pain on my left side and I am about to visit the doc with a possible ovarian cyst.

It is always worth getting short cycles checked out. It could be a cyst, it could be your hormones are out of whack, it could be any number of things. I had an irritable uterus in my early 30s and this caused on/off bleeding all the time. There is usually a reason for short/long cycles and often it's something that can be fixed quite easily - for my irritable uterus I just had to go on the pill for a few months. But 35 is very unlikely to be menopause unless you have a family history of early menopause.

Agree. It could be something minor like an infection. I have uterine polyps.

I definitely think our bodies change mid thirties in prep for menopause. I'm nearly 38 and had irregular periods, hormones all over the place but doc says too young for it. Apparently you follow our mothers trend, I've lost my mum so can't ask her but I'm told she had it early forties so if premenopause lasts 5-10 years its possible! X

could be uterine polyp, it was with me. Diagnosed by u/s scan ordered by gp.

GW297 · 10/09/2013 19:49

The gp may ask the nurse to do a few tests and then refer you to the hospital. You'll probably have to wait 6 weeks to get an appointment through and then a couple more weeks until your actual appointment. You'll probably have a trans vaginal ultrasound scan and depending what they find they'll take it from there. That's what happened in my case anyway.

Could one of those periods actually be mid cycle spotting, around the time of ovulation? I have read in some fertility books that that is possible.
