What's the matter with ds?

Ds is 24 and generally fit and well. Since Friday he has been suffering from really bad headaches, dizziness and nausea (retching but not vomiting) He has needed to sleep during the day and he took a day off yesterday (unheard of for him) because he felt wretched. His headache is better lying down and worse when standing or making sudden movements and constant when sitting. Nurofen and paracetamol have made no difference. I have asked him to go to GPs but he thinks it will pass and has gone to work today even though he looks terrible.
What could it be? I'm hoping that he'll give in and go to GPs today as it's unlikely he will manage a day at his desk and having to keep standing up.

With the dizziness I'd say some sort of ear infection. He really should see a GP if it hasn't passed by now. It would have gone / subsided in 48 hours or so had it been a general bug.

He's not mentioned his ears being a problem but I'll email him and ask. The pain in his head is in his forehead but he has no cold symptoms so don't think it's his sinuses. I wish he was still a little boy who I could drag to the GP's tbh because I know he needs to be seen.

Friend's husband last week had similar symptoms. He has viral meningitis.

Def needs to see a dr to rule this out.

Was going to say get him to docs to rule out meningitis Hmm

He really needs to be reviewed if he is this ill. There could be a number of causes. Migraine, sinusitis, ear infection, meningitis, mumps, glandular fever. Has he had a knock to his head in the last few weeks? The worsening on standing can be related to intracranial pressures, and this can be a spontaneous thing (also can simply be due to migraine).

The other thing is that these could potentially be the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning. Does he have gas appliances in his home, and does he have a CM monitor?

It probably is just a nasty virus, but his symptoms do sound a little worrying, it's best to be safe than sorry.

Managed to get him to agree to see GP tomorrow thank goodness. His team were worried about him (all women) and their clucking seems to have done more to persuade him than I could. Still no improvement, no gas appliances so no CO worries, will update after GP. Flowers to all.

I think tonight rather than tomorrow would be best. But well done so far.
