That's it really . Recently had big op removing oesphageous and have reduced stomach capacity + reduced food digestion .

When I brush my teeth I gag and throw up ,but really need to hang on to the small amounts I'm eating .
But teeth are not good ,apparently lots of bone loss and I need good oral hygiene .

Any advice wise ones ?

I used a toothpaste years ago called Janina. You just swish it in your mouth & spit out.

aah ,thanks Footle .

There are worse things - I keep thinking how people with same condition manage in places far from the lovely NHS like Syria .

I'm concentrating on the interdentals .

I do think dentistry not integrated /cinderalla profession in NHS . But hard for NHS to treat conditions holistically ,where would it end ...

How about brushing your teeth really well first thing (so nothing to chuck up) and then using mouthwash, sugar free gum etc later in the day.

If you have been assessed as having dental issues alongside other health conditions, you may be able to see a specialist dentist, but it can be hard depending on the area. Took my dad a year to get an appt, in spite of his dermatologist and the prof at the dental hospital trying v hard to sort it.

Thanks Dibbler ,good suggestion . Why didn't I think of it ? Hmm

Aah ,now I remember .

Because I wake up in pain ,take pain meds ,eat an oatcake and drink water before I get up .

Would a water pic be any good?

I got one as I have really crowded teeth and struggle to floss etc.

It can take a bit of getting used to, but I think you would be able to use it in a way that didn't irritate the back of your mouth/ throat area.

Thanks Cat ,I've wondered about them before so might go for it .

Gagging etc won't be permanent ,so probably an investment for future even if no good now .
I'm finding clenching teeth together helps ,so maybe at least one side of teeth getting cleaned Smile

Could you get advice from the hospital dental service? In our hospital it is called the special care dental service. It is for people with additional needs like my learning disabled son, but perhaps they could suggest something? T
Hope you are soon feeling better, it sounds most unpleasant for you.

Ok ,quick update .

Careful timing with anti sickness drugs and using baby toothbrush seem to be answer .
Hooray .
