Sad Why? Does anyone else have this?

Me too. No idea!

I would hazard a guess at you having a wheat or yeast intolerance.

silverangel · 27/08/2013 13:21

Me too.

I've gone low carb for the last couple of weeks (so no sugar, bread or alcohol) and it's completley dissapeared, together with my IBS symptoms.

missbopeep · 27/08/2013 20:34

Candida

in other words thrush in the gut.

Feeds on sugar - from refined carbs, or lactose ( in dairy) and yeast in bread and some alcohol.

And you might be intolerant to any or all!

Only way to find out is to omit one at a time, for a month, then 'challenge' by putting back one at a time.

fffinsake · 27/08/2013 20:45

So could you just pop a Canesten then?

Jewelledkaleidoscope · 28/08/2013 11:30

Good point fff

Would this work!?

OP posts:

No.

It might work for a day or so but if candida is systemic you need to get rid of it for good- which means don't eat the things you are intolerant to.

Some drs prescribe a medicine called Nystatin which you have to take for several weeks so although a tablet kills vaginal thrush I doubt it would work on your entire system.

There's loads on the web about candida and the 'anti candida diet'.

loopyloou · 28/08/2013 18:30

I think the anti candida diet involves cutting out all sugar (because it feeds the yeast) and processed white carbs which are essentially sugar (so white flour, white rice) and dairy (because of lactose, which is also a sugar), then taking probiotic capsules (you can get them from Holland & Barrett) to build up the good gut flora, which will then take over and get rid of the yeast.

Hard but worth it. You can after a while gradually reintroduce the things you cut out.
