Colposcopy and CIN 2

Just wondering if anyone has had treatment for CIN 2, and if so, what exactly does it involve and is it painful? I'm due a colposcopy appointment in 2 weeks, I'm guessing its for treatment because ive had 4 colp check ups and biopsys that have all come back as CIN 2. However, they couldn't treat me beforehand as I was pregnant ( I actually found out I was pregnant at my first colp appt!). Little bit nervous as I know what the "check ups" involve but not the treatment.

I've just had treatment for CIN 3 after havıng a colposcopy and a bıopsy confırmıng the result. I had Lletz treatment last Tuesday where the bad cells are lasered off. The procedure was pretty much the same as the colposcopy, just embarassıng more than anythıng. I had stomach cramps after for about 24 hours, but that was the only paın. 1 week on ı've got horrıble black dıscharge, whıch ıs normal and awaıtıng the results now.

Hi there, I had laser treatment for CIN 2 in 2010.

I found it to be ok. The appointment was shorter than my initial appointments when they performed biopsies etc. the set-up was the same (stirrups etc). I found the worst bit to be the local anaesthetic. Very painful but over quickly.

Recovery was ok and not painful but I was left feeling sick anytime I bent over (to tie shoes etc).

What treatment are you having?

Helentres · 20/08/2013 20:24

I'm not 100% sure tbh, the while thing is a bit daunting to me :S the nurse has spoken about laser treatment though so I'm guessing thats what they'll be going for. I know ill be looked after while I'm there and all the nurses are lovely. It's just a bit of different experience than going for a regular check up.

As far as I know, other treatment options are more invasive and can require general anaesthetic. If they've not mentioned this to you I'd say it's more than likely you're having something like the laser.

It's honestly not that bad. In a way it was easier than a smear at the GP because they've got better equipment and can get into position straight away. I just kept telling myself that if they didn't do it, I could end up having much more difficult treatment. Plus, I'm the biggest wuss on the planet. If I can do it, so can you. You'll be fine. X

I think I'm just nervous more than anything. I've had colposcopy check ups and biopsies etc done its just the treatment sounds a little scary.

That's good. My hubby came with me. Didn't feel 100% after, strange feeling in my abdomen. Probably could've driven myself but it was nicer knowing I didn't have to!

I'm awaiting results in my colposcopy. My dr thinks I have a CIN 2. If I do and they remove it with laser treatment. (as the doctor put it) because of "the way I am put together" I would have to go under general anaesthetic as i would experience a fair amount of pain even under local. The treatment doesn't bother me it's just the waiting that does

Helentres · 22/08/2013 13:29

I had no idea that I would have had CIN 2. I got an abnormal smear early last year about 2 weeks after my 25th birthday. Went for the colposcopy thinking its just be a check up and nothing serious. When I got there i found out I was pregnant with DS3 and also that I had CIN 2. I couldn't believe it. Mixed emotions was an understatement. Although because i was pregnant they couldn't do any treatment as it could've caused a miscarriage. Now DS3 is 8 months old and I've gotta go for treatment. So nervous as I don't know what to expect from it Confused.
