A hyper Thyroid threat this time

Hi,

Second post and its still about my damn thyroid. I've been overactive since I was 18 and severely (as in my TF4 was over 92 when it should be no more than 24, my TF3 was 18.9 not the max of 8.4 and I have NO TSH i.e. less than 0.5). Clearly its more damaging in pregnancy than being hypo/underactive so they have advised that because its still not under control due to my lax tablet taking, we wait before TTC. I realise not taking my tablets was completely stupid but I had a specialist endo and he said just to let them know when we were starting to TTC as we might need to adjust the medication - not, as it appears, "you will have major complications and/or a MC" which is more like the truth. Clearly the advice for my 20s when I had no intention of TCC is not the situation I now find myself in.

Clearly now we've realised this is a problem, I'm taking tablets religiously and harassing doctors for stronger doses and regular blood tests. Does anyone know how long it takes to get back to what is acceptable and recommence TCC?

Does anyone else completely HATE their own body for being so bloody difficult?

Err yes!

I had to request my Thryoid be checked, following extensive reading online to try and translate my symptoms. The GP gave me that look, as if to say 'Oh right, another middle-aged mother, who wants a reason for her weight-gain'. Well, as it turned out, It was Hypothyroidism and off the scale, so then I started on the Levothyroxine and with 6 monthly visits to the Endincrinologist, blood tests and varying amounts of meds, I still feel no different.

It's so hard being trapped in a body, which for the most part, does not feel your own. I eat well, exercise regularly and yet no weight shifts and my energy levels are still highly depleted.

I have gone sideways and requested he check my glucose levels (as no professional will diagnose Diabetes until it hits the chosen level), however, I read an interesting article on pre-diabetes and how its even more important to catch it early. The level was elevated, so now more meds - Metformin this time. Again after several months, still no changes to either weight or energy.

Out of curiosity, today I checked my PH Levels (had these sticks which I had inherited from my father's medicine cabinet) and having Googled the result, it came up as 'dangerously acidic'. Having seen all the symptoms of 'Candidiasis', this may now be the answer, hence I intend to self-medicate by changing my whole lifestyle on this restricted diet, which helps to cleanse this 'Fungus', as it were, out of the system and allow my body to absorb the vitamins and minerals from my diet, which it is currently not doing.

Sorry, I started to talk about the Thyroid and seemed to have gone slightly off-topic but what I wanted to share is that I believe that in most cases their are secondary conditions that stop any medications from working, or being seen to work, i.e. it is always worth investigating yourself. Trouble with the professionals in medicine is they are over-worked and over-subscribed to, leaving them with little time to devote and little interest in looking at other issues relating to the patient at hand.

Good luck with it all and feel free to 'vent' back! x
