another chickenpox? question

ds has had chickenpox three years ago - an average, not mild dose.
Today he has woke with pimples on tum, few dots on tops oflegs, none on arms, face, neck, and lower legs/feet. They are white ish pimples, red on the surroundidng skin. I can't imagine they are bites in these places?
They are no worse through the day today though, and he hasn't been at all ill recently. Do you think he could have them again? They are about at school.
Any ideas please.

Big problem we are going on hol on Sunday, our first abroad hol for 5 years...
Do i wait and see what develops, do i blag it if he has no spots on face? how late can i cancel hol?
Any info greatly received!

I belive that you can get chicken pox twice however the second time should be very mild compaired to the first.

I really hope it isn't chickenpox, but take a look at the NHS Direct website for more info. I was looking earlier - they advise checking with the airline (if you are flying) as the aircon allows germs to circulate easily so they might not allow you to travel. It would also be worth contacting your insurance company (did you take it out?!) to see if they will cover you if your son does have it.
Best of luck!

We had chickenpox twice for both ds and dd (recently - we missed our holiday because of it). First time they had it mildly, the second time ds has it quite severely and dd moderately.

It is typical for the spots to cluster around tummy and groin and not unusual for there to be fewer on the face.

Sunday is a long way a way - why not get an appointment at your GP for confirmation of diagnosis.

Sorry imo it is immoral to blag your way on a holiday because you think you can get away with it. Chickenpox as you know can be dangerous to the fetus during the first trimester of pregnancy, dangerous to immuno compromised people and isn't a whole barrel of laugh for otherwise healthy adults who haven't had it in childhood ( I know someone who was ill for a fortnight with chickenpox and in a very bad way)

I could have blagged my way onto the flight with dd with her dose of chicken pox (only 2 spots on face) but my conscience wouldn't allow it.

Herein endeth the lecture Grin

my friend's three childen have all had chickenpox and currently have spots just as you've dexcribed. the doctor said it was a virus similar to chicken pox, but not chicken pox. look like bites/pox, but lots and in wrong place for bites. doc said is contagious.

DD has just had chicken pox for the second time, both time diagnosed by a doctor. Last time was very mild, this time very severe so severe infact she was almost taken in for obs as they were worrie about her eyes and even her brain.

I went to the doctor as soon as I spotted dd first spot as we had booked a break in London, he said she would be fine to go as the second time should be mild. But it wasn't and we almost were not allowed to board the plane as the air companies can be very strict about chicken pox on a plane.

You are taking a risk as at the end of the day a few more days in London would have been ok or we could have found another way of getting back but if you are going abroad it is a risk.

He was an irresponsible doctor to suggest such a thing (even if she had developed it mildly she would have still been an infection risk to others)

Find out from your GP what it is and ask him/her to write a letter confirming diagnosis if not infectious.

Friend has just done this for her child who is getting over chickenpox and who is going on a plane on Monday.
