Recommendations for socks for cold feet

Hi
I know autumn/winter is a while off, but want to be prepared this year. Last year I suffered terribly when out and about from horribly cold feed / numbness and pain in my toes and fingers. It didn't take long either - sometimes only 10 min or so before the pain set in. My feet would take ages to heat up afterwords, and I felt very uncomfortable going to the park etc with my DD.

Does anyone have any suggestions for really warm, but thinnish socks? I don't want to wear super thick ones if at all possible.

Thanks v much.

You need to start with good boots - without them, the heat gets sucked out no matter what socks you wear. I have very cold feet, and my Merrell Prevoz mean I wear normal socks except in extreme cold when I wear Heat Holder socks.

Gloves, I layer silk gloves, fleece wristwarmers, fleece gloves, and replace the fleece gloves with down mitts when really cold.

Heat Holder socks, but they are thick.

I work outside, and suffer terribly from cold feet.
Rubber soles rather than leather ones.

Neoprene lined wellies rather than just the standard sort. Goretex (or similar) lined leather country boots. They cost more, but actually for the comfort they bring me in not having ice block feet and feeling absolutely miserable, they are worth the extra.

For hands, leather gloves with silk linings

Thanks for the suggestions. I have warm winter boots, Merrell ones but even with those I still feel the cold. will have a look at the socks too and layering up with gloves. Has anyone tried Merino wool socks?

I don't suffer as badly as you, but i do get cold feet. The wellies i wear oitdoors in the winter cost a small fortune but as soon as its no longer sub zero temps i can hardly bear to wear them they are so warm. Mine are musto pentland wellies but i would imagine most good quality sturdy soled neoprene lined would be the same. I can wear them with just tights and skirt(when i feed the horse before and after work) and still my toes are toasty.

I have men's merino sock, coz they are longer

cashmere for best
sheepskin slippers for indoors.

The trick is to wear layers, as each layer will add an extra layer of insulation. Wear a thinner sock, and then a merino wool one. These are the warmest sort.
