Cervical smear but without seeing cervix, what next?

Went for a smear yesterday but the nurse was unable to find my cervix.
It's always tricky and I have to do that thing of putting my fists under my buttocks to raise my pelvis. However it's always been found before.
She had to do the smear without visualising it and hopes she got the right area. She said I would get a letter if the sample did not contain the right cells.
Anyone got experience of this and what happens if it needs repeating but my cervix won't co operate?

We had another thread where the woman is tall and apparently this is common. But no smear was taken. She had to go a special hospital/place that had a proper gynae chair with a foot rest on each side.
They did eventually find it. But many attempts with different people failed before then.

Reading it again, did she find it but just could not see it? If she didn't nanage to see what she was doing and the smear is recognised as not the right cells, then they will try again.

I think it is not your cervix not cooperating but you should be sitting in a proper gynae chair and not lying flat on a bed. The nurse/gynae should be sitting eye level with your cervix and not standing and having to bend over.

Generally (but individual screening lab policies may differ) we would process and screen the sample. If any abnormal cells are seen, they would be reported according to grade, otherwise it the sample would be called inadequate. This because the sample taker has indicated that they aren't sure they have (i) sampled the cervix and (ii) sampled all of the cervix. The sampling devices are supposed to collect a 360 degree sweep x 5 rotations.

If your sample is reported as inadequate then I suggest discussing with the practice whether having the sample taken in colposcopy or gynae may help.

Hopefully it was an adequate smear.
