I have been suffering with awful head spins/ vertigo/balance problems for nearly a week.
The last 48 hours have been hideous.
I can barely stand and feel safe and driving is out.
I have a job, two small DC's and another on the way.
I just don't know how to function.
Feeling sick but not being.
The information the doctor gave me said it could last 3-8 weeks. 3-8 WEEKS?!
That's if it goes at all.
Have been prescribed prochlorpenazine(?) but having taken it for 48 hours now its just making me feel jittery but not helping with the head spins.
Please someone tell me when/if these drugs will work and if its going to get any better?
:(

Sorry you are suffering. See recent post on "vertigo" for advice.

I'm sorry for being dim.
I've searched and searched and can't find it?

See if there are any travel sickness pills you can take when pregnant, they can sometimes help with the balance.

So sorry you're really suffering with this 212VIP. No advice just lots of sympathy.

I took Betahistine for around 6 months but to be honest I noticed no improvement on starting and no worsening when I stopped. The thing that helped me the most was sea bands, the travel sickness bands. It was the consultant who took me off the medication as he said time is the only real thing that helps.

Sorry--can't do link, but it is under "vertigo advice".

Try Cawthorne Cooksey exercises. Unfortunately, labyrinthitis can go on a long time

I've had labyrinthitis and it did go on for a couple of months (although it settled into a more manageable vertigo/bounciness after a couple of really bad weeks). It did eventually come to an end though! I don't think the drugs helped at all. I think the important thing is not to stop moving (which is the temptation). You have to move to train your brain to start compensating for the damage that has been done to your middle ear.
