"just walked over my grave" shiver in baby??

Hi,

My 7 month old baby girl has had these shivers (as if someone has walked over her grave) since she was born. Sometimes it is daily, othertimes less frequent, maybe 3 times a week. However it doesn't seem to bother her, but I'm a bit worried that it's not normal.
I have spoken to the GP who said he has not heard of it before, but not to worry about it as she seems healthy in herself.

Has anyone else had any experience of this? if so do you think i should ignore my GP and get her looked at by a specialist?

Hope you can help,
worried first time mum !

This often happens when they do a wee in their nappies. Don't worry about it.

motherinferior · 14/06/2006 11:23

I think she's probably peeing, actually.

WigWamBam · 14/06/2006 11:23

My dd sometimes did that when she had a wee. As long as she's happy and healthy in herself I wouldn't think you need to see anyone about it.

nailpolish · 14/06/2006 11:24

my babies used to do this and i always thought it was when they were doing a weewee Smile

dd2 is still in nappies and she can tell me she is doing a weewee now, i ask her when she has these little shivers

marthamoo · 14/06/2006 11:24

They do do that when they wee, don't they? I'd forgotten that...awwww. Really don't worry, Kingy.

hunkermunker · 15/06/2006 00:49

No, TT, it is you weeing, but everyone's too polite to mention it.

(I can report that this shudder is definitely a weeing one, since DS2 did it as I caught his sample in a small pot...mothering's all about the glamour, isn't it?!)

Twiga · 15/06/2006 00:55

Fascinated by this thread - my dd (9 months) sometimes shivers randomly - thought it was just her body learning diff reactions - didn't realise there was a link with weeing. Learn something new every day...

kate100 · 15/06/2006 01:46

Definitely weeing, both my boys do this, even ds1 who is nearly 3 sits on the loo shivering. DS2 finds it all very amusing, his shivers are usually followed by a hearty chuckle. I have to be honest and say I didn't kow this until my mom pointed it out.

kipper22 · 15/06/2006 09:40

I was worried about this with my DS - brought it up in front of DH & our friends which led to a long discussion about who did & didn't suffer from p* shivers!
