MMR single vaccine clinics in SW London?

Have finally decided to go the single vaccine route (though dh thinks I'm silly and that any issues have been disproved)

Can anyone recommend a good place to get them done?

In live in Battersea but couldn't find anywhere near that would do them (this was 2 years ago, so there might be more now). In the end we went to a lovey surgery in Holborn who were very supportive. Ds has had measles and mups vaccs now, and is due his German measles in the next couple of months. The Holborn people also said that they could arrange for his blood to be tested for antibodies before he starts school to see if he needs boosters or not. Holborn Medical Centre, 64 Lamb's Conduit St, WC1 020 7405 7544.

Thanks wilbur, dh works in Holborn too so that might be a good one.

I have looked at the e-med clinic as well which seems good. I have used the hospital for other things in the past and they have been good. DS1 is seventeen months now and I still haven't booked anything because he is very egg allergic and I am concerned about the measles vac but that is the one he should have first.

Has anyone else heard this... apparently gp's are allowed to give single vaccines if a child has already started a course of them - they are also allowed to give the single rubella vaccine. Consequently, some sympathetic gp's are giving the rubella jab first and then, as this means the child has started a single jab course, they can give the other ones. Maybe we should all try this?

CountessDracula · 26/02/2004 12:16

Really? Does that mean if I do dd's measles next week I can go to the gp for the rest do you think? Willow2 fancy picketing SL Health Centre?

OP posts:
Jimjams · 26/02/2004 13:23

They were able to do that but apparently the NHS has now "run out of" rubella, and will no longer be providing it. Oh how handy.

CountessDracula · 26/02/2004 13:50

what a surprise. A*holes!

Dr Halvorsen in the Holborn medical centre used to be my hubby's GP ! a very nice chap apparently.Or dd had her single jabs at the Brakespear hospital in Hertfordshire ( hemel hempsted) and they were fantastic there. They have a website but it might be a bit far foryou.
