Have suffered from an angina type condition for 7 years now, and never really been that bothersome.however in april I had a wisdom tooth removed, and since then I have bad chest pains every week , and almost dailey.im taken to hospital at least once a week at the minute.I just seem to think there is a connection somewhere.

Have you had checks at the hospital - ECG etc? As far as I know the only risk for dental work is infective endocarditis (where bacteria settles on the heart muscle) but I think that makes you feel feverish and 'fluey' rather than giving you chest pains.

Its weird though - I am having tests for an irregular/weak heart beat at the moment, and although I've had an irregular beat my whole life, it got worse after I had a severely infected molar removed at Easter. Cardiologist has never mentioned a possible link and dismissed endocarditis, but it does seem an odd coincidence.

Yes had loads of ecgs, and blood tests and chest xrays.the next step will be another angiogram I fear.I was given heart tablets and they made me worse, gave me palpitations and made me breathless.I haven't felt well for weeks.

It shouldn't affect CAD but bacteria in the mouth can cause problems if you have valvular disease.

It is most probably just a coincidence that both have happened at the same time.

Can also cause myocarditis and thus heart failure. My dh died of it at 51, just because he needed a filling.

ilovegeorge I'm so sorry for your loss, your post just seemed so bereft and hard hitting. I honestly hope you are okay xx

Both DD's have congenital heart defects and have antibiotics for any invasive dental treatment as they are at risk of bacterial endocarditis

My dentist has said there's a link between dental health and heart disease (my mother has poor teeth and has angina and dilated cardiomyopathy). He also said studies in the US have shown a link between dental health and back pain due to the bacteria in the gums affecting the spine.

Sad ilovegeorge
