How bad was it? How was it fixed? How have you been since?

yes had mine done 8 years ago (vaginal and anal lots of stitches). had surgery it was bad and now it isn't. but the big but is I have kept rigidly to the advice regarding dietary fibre, pelvic floors and not lifting anything heavy again ever. my surgeon said all the failures he saw were due to people forgetting the advice after a couple of years.

Thankyou both! Excellent advice (and reassurance!). I'll check out that thread!

Where can I fine the thread? Is it under general health?

I had a repair done two weeks ago Anterior and posterior repair plus vaginal hysterectomy.

So far so fine regarding recuperation. Am about to resume driving tomorrow and can't wait!

I spent two nights in hospital, am doing my pelvic floor exercises and don't plan on lifting any thing heavy ever again!

It's all been remarkably straightforward so far, I suppose time will tell regarding its success. I've already lost that horrible sensation of pain and pressure in my pelvis (the symptom which led me to deciding to have the surgery). I have had abdominal pain though - I suppose it's only to be expected after hysterectomy

I would say go for it - I spent the past six years suffering increasing discomfort.

Thanks Elderflower for that reassurance. Just plucking up the courage.

I have had a bladder prolapse fixed using the TVT method. It worked well but I had a hysterectomy last year and I'm waiting to go for a gynae appointment to check if I've had a bowel/bladder/vaginal prolapse since having it.

NumptyNu · 15/08/2013 18:52

Oooh, what's the tvt method? And what are the alternatives? Is it very invasive? Do they go in through the skin via incision, or do they go 'up'?

Up Grin. It's a mesh- like material that is sewn to create a 'hammock' to keep the bladder up. It's only a day proceedure and it worked really well on my stress incontinence. It can make urge incontinence worse, but not always.
