AHA - we have just had our first experience last week of the letter from school warning that there had been Sightings. We were told to put an ordingary conditioner in their hair and then comb the hair with a nit comb. Repeat daily until all signs are gone. Think this would work with a baby as well, as it is only ordinary conditioner.

We are [currently] nit free Grin

Wet hair, put in lots of conditioner, and comb thoroughly from root to tip, washing / wiping comb in between each sweep. Repeat every 3 days for at least 2 weeks or until you can no longer find any lice on the comb.

This is effective and safe for all ages :)

Oh check your own head and dp's as well Shock

I'll second the conditioner & combing method.
I check DD's hair weekly now with the comb to make sure she stays nit-free.
ARGH I'm itching now just thinking about it!

you need a bug buster comba dn stinky conditioner
enid wher are you

theose normal combs are not any good

yorkshirelass79 · 13/06/2006 11:50

Depends on your child's hair cod, we tried the electric zapper comb but DD's hair is too thick and long and it just kept chewing her hair up, so we went back to the ordinary nit comb.

FrannyandZooey · 13/06/2006 11:51

Yes nitty gritty is a good comb too. You can get it free on prescription from your gp (even though most gps say oh no you can't)

I'll get you a thing to print out, hold on...

\link{http://www.nittygritty.co.uk/ng/resources/nittygritty_available_on_prescription.pdf\letter to give to your gp for a free Nitty Gritty nit comb}

Thanks everyone, especially for the letter FandZ. Off to GP's after lunch.

Haven't broken news to DH yet, he's got the longest hair of all of us and isn't going to be happy!! Nitcomb and bottle of wine as he comes through the door methinks Grin
