Anyone know anything about this? My doctor is sending me for a laporoscopy as he thinks I may have it!

You have my sympathies if you have this speaking as someone who has endo.

The four classic symptoms with endo are painful periods, deep pain during sex, pelvic pain and subfertility.

www.endo.org.uk is the website of the National Endometriosis Society. That's a very good place to start and they also have a helpline number you can call (have used their service and would recommend them).

One good thing to come out of all this is that your doc has been open to the possibility that you may have endometriosis. Some GP's are woefully ignorant.

The lap is the standard procedure done to see if endometriosis is present. If it is there it will be lasered out.

Would suggest you educate yourself re endo and its various treatment options - it will stand you in good stead.

I had lots of pain and fertiliy probs also, so dr sent me for a laparoscopy. they found nothing, and just classed it as "chronic pelvic pain" no cause, no treatment. I had a low level AD for about a year to turn off the pain messages and let me get on with things. When I came off, it had virtually gone. Since had dd and gone altogether, so not always as bad as you think x

I have endometriosis. I had a laparoscopy last november and they lasered it all away. I didn't have it really severely but it had attached my uterus to my bowel (got a tilted uterus too just to be akward!:()

I now have the mirena coil which seems to be the standard treatment now and apart from a bad recovery from the op (they did other stuff there too as I had fibroids, cysts, scarring and bladder probs too:(:() it has done a fab job:)

I don't have periods any more which is the best thing (well, just some spotting and nothing more than having to wear a panyliner. sorry if TMI), as that means no pain, no swelling of tummy and all the other agro I went thro each and every month. also don't have to take all the bloody hormones and other meds I had to take. some from day 1-24 of cycle and others from day 24-end of period!

obviously you not got proof yet, but the laparoscopy itself isn't anything to worry about. tis a simple procedure and only takes a week to get over fully!

hi i was diagnosed with endo at 17 after having a laparoscopy. i was put on a strong form of the contractive pill with no affect. i was then told there was no other treatment as surgery was not an option because i am not good under g/a. If i wanted to try to get rid of it my only option was to have a baby, so after 3 yrs of trying ds was born. but still have the pain so i asume it is still there.

Jodie....I was lucky. I was told at 18 that I had 5% chance of falling naturally after having a laparoscopy cos of all the cysts and other probs etc. Fell at 20 with no trying (was planning my wedding as we were then going to save furiously for IVF/adoption. 2 weeks before wedding found that wedding nerves were in fact morning sicknessGrin)

then 1yr later assuming that DD1 was a fluke started to try again. we originally were wanting a 3yr gap, and thought that we would take that long to try. we started trying on holiday....1mth later got the magical blue lineGrinGrin

DH asked recently if we could sue for the wrong information given...I said that would be wrong as I was happy that they got it wrong. He retorted tho that the 5% chance shouldn't have meant in fact five kiddies!!!

Yup...we now have five, and only our second was actively tried for. Goodness only knows how many we would have had otherwise tho as I am obviously rather fertileWink!

Having said that tho....baby no.5 seemed to be the trigger for the endo getting worse, as he was only months old when it started back with a vengence (altho that could also be put down to his horrific birth and after management in which I nearly died as did he but that is a whole other post on its own!)

Endo is happily treated now tho, and family is happily complete, if a little fuller than plannedWink

5!!! OMG to be honest i dont see anymore for the simple fact his birth was horrible and the MW's were worse. You must do a great job and i hope you are getting some help for that pain control.

take care Jodie x
