Heavy and long periods.

Probably tmi, apologies in advance. It's long to, sorry this is the only place I can get it all down.

The last 4/5 periods I've had have lasted approx 2 weeks. They are heavy with flooding at times. They are painful, and really clotty.
I'm getting to the stage I have to plan what I wear and where I go in accordance with my cycle. Having 2 weeks per months off limits is obviously not ideal.
A year or so ago I was prescribed norothirserine (sp?) to deal with a one off long and heavy period. I've been using it on and off to try and control the bleeding but I'm sure it's not helping?.

Something else as well, which might or might not be be connected -according to Dr google-. I suffer from lots of neck pains, sore throats and recently I feel as if I have lump in the front of my throat. The front of my neck hurts and I'm convinced something is swollen in there?.
-Dr- google points to thyroid problems, which would fit in with a few other grumbles I have ( feeling the cold, lethargic ).

Now, the rest of it. I have developed real anxiety issues lately. I'm petrified to go to the doctor about my periods. I just don't know how to start talking to them. Do I sit down and make small talk, or do I launch straight into what I've written above?. It sounds crazy written down but I really don't how to begin.

Any advice -and a kick up the arse- would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear your having to deal with this. The additional problems (feeling cold & lethargic, anxious etc) could be down to anaemia due to your heavy periods.
Please don't ever feel worried about discussing this with your GP - they are well used to talking about these things. I'd write down exactly how you're feeling so you don't forget anything & I would imagine you'll need a few blood tests to check your iron & thyroid levels.
Hope this get sorted out soon.

Thank you Rusty. I've been brave and made an appointment -pity I have to wait 3 bloody weeks for it!-.
