I'm in a bit of dilemma .
I would normally see my dentist on Monday but they are closed until the 19 Aug .
I go abroad for 2 weeks in a week .
The answephone message says I can phone the emergency local nuts service out of hours or during office hours call xxxx for advice .
The xxxx no is another private dentist in a neighbouring town . Do you think they would actually see and treat me or would they actually only cover to give advise , in which case I may as well see the out of hours emergency dentist a yeah as I so g be a le to access anyone before my holiday

I have the crown but if there is supposed to be a pro g bit left in my mouth to reattach it to its gone .
It looks like the top of a big tooth and left in my mouth seems to be a shallow tooth base with silver in it and a hole ?
Any advice would be very welcome as I don't want to cause further damage .
Last time I had a dental problem I ended up having emergency surgery for a life threatening complication and since I am terrified of dentistry so gutted my trusted dentist is away .
Many thanks

I had this! I just walked into another private dentist and they were happy to see me (as they get a nice emergency fee for it!)

I actually gave tax credits exemption for nhs dentristy but it is impossible to find one.

As an aside, you can buy a temporary filler/ cement to fill the hole or stick the crown back on to save the tooth from infection whilst you wait. Its tempera max or something like that - i got mine from boots.

Good luck!

thank you GOTMYGOAT.
I've just tried it and it does fit back on ok.
So if I use the temporary stuff will the dentist be able to take it back off and fix it properly after the weekend do you think ?
Thanks for your reply .

My crown came off when we were away on holiday (day 2 of 7). I went straight to Boots and bought an emergency kit and DH stuck it back on for me. It stayed on for weeks and then came off again on a Friday evening, so DH went off to local Boots and got another kit and fitted it back on. Rang dentist on Monday and made appointment, and went a few days later, but as it was stuck solid, she wouldn't remove it as she said it would damage the tooth/crown.
Eventually it came loose and I got another appointment with dentist to have it cemented back on properly. I was sure I had remembered my previous dentist saying that if a Crown came off, it needed to go back on within a few days or it wouldn't fit. But this dentist told me it didn't really matter.
The kit that I bought involved mixing 2 preparations together and made a cement which set fairly quickly. Did buy one kit in Tesco (after the 1st time it happened) which was just like putty and it stopped the crown from fitting properly, so I pulled it off and bought another kit from Boots.

this has happened to me twice .

both times I just got an appointment with nearest dentist and they popped it back on .

Personally I wouldn't risk trying to fix it myself .

but I understand it's important to have it refixed quickly because teeth shift/move .
