A question to those who had the whooping cough vaccine in pregnancy

How were you afterwards? Were there any side effects? Would you have it again in a future pregnancy?
I'm trying to make up my mind what to do...

I've had a sore arm for two days but no side effects apart from that. Baby has been kicking away as usual. Had it two days ago.
Would have it again as wouldn't risk my babies health

Had a sore arm for a couple of days too but no other side effects. My lil boy is now 12 weeks and perfect! Yep would have it again!

Also interested as mine is booked for next week.

I'm very pro vaccinations though. Also, when I queried it with my midwife, she looked at me sternly and said "Babies die from whooping cough". That was a bit scary!

Had it also. No adverse effects. DD is 10 weeks. Yes would do it again.

I had it, had mild flu symptoms for 24hrs afterwards (temp, aches and tiredness) as well as the dead arm. Not to bad though. Yes would have it again!

I didn't have the vaccine as I was unlucky enough to catch whooping cough itself a few weeks before they introduced the jabs, and it was generally thought that due to the timing of my infection I would have passed on the antibodies anyway. I was so ill that I cannot imagine putting a small baby through what I went through and therefore would have the jab in any future pregnancy no question.

I had it 3 months ago, Slightly achy arm for 48hours....

Dh is a GP in a relatively small rural practice and has admitted 10 babies with whooping cough in the last year, 4 have ended up on intensive care (although thankfully survived)

It's nasty in young babies, please vaccinate yourself

I also had an achy arm for a couple of days but that's it. I have a healthy 10 day old baby now.

I'd do it again in a heartbeat, I had whooping cough myself as a child and it was hideous, I wouldn't want a baby to have it.

Am now 33 weeks so had it five weeks ago. Like others I had a achey arm for a few days and that was it!

I had it and baby is 9 months now.
Achey arm but nothing else. I'm very pro vaccinations tbh, especially where my dc are concerned.

Once you've seen one of your dc very poorly you'd do anything to not have them poorly again. Minimal risk with the vaccine imo.

Had it this week. No side affects at all. Baby still doing a lot of wriggling. Had whooping cough when I was little (my mum says it was awful). I've been left with a weak chest now and every time I get a cough I'm stuck with it for a good month, cough so hard I vomit etc.

Achy arm only here too. I have a lovely healthy 2 weeker. Would have it again no question.

Had it and felt a bit rough for a day or so with quite a sore arm. Baby is very healthy at 4 months old now

My mum almost died from whooping cough in the 1950s. She caught it when she was 6 and lost so much weight she was too weak to support herself on the loo and has to go back into nappies for a good 6 months.

It's a scary disease and on the rise again.

I also had it, and flu jab because of my job, with no side effects - possibly achey arm for day but can't actually remember now. Dd2 is now 25 weeks and fighting fit so no effect on her either. I'd have it again in any future pregnancies.

I had it at 28 weeks - the same evening I ended up in hospital with threatened pre term labour. Needed drugs to mature babies heart and lungs, but luckily, they were able to halt proceedings.

I'm 10 weeks pregnant and not sure I'll have it this time. Midwife completely understood and didn't try to persuade me otherwise, which also concerns me.

I had a slightly sore arm for a couple of days, but no other issues. DD is 5 months old and perfect. I'd have it again without question, as whooping cough is very dangerous for young babies, and there have been enough outbreaks recently for it to be perfectly possible for a new born to be exposed to it.

Slightly achey arm, all fine.

Most importantly, a family friend had a baby that died at 6 weeks of catastrophic organ failure following whooping cough, despite instant treatment in a great hospital . After an outbreak in our area, DH and the grandparents also got vaccinated before DS arrived.

It's a 'dead' vaccine and very safe!

I had it at 37 weeks (week they began vaccinating) with no problems.

I didn't because I had diphtheria, tetanus and hepatitis vaccinations Very recently to travel and the wc vaccine only comes as a triple with diphtheria and tetanus and was likely to make me really quite ill.
I am nervous about the lack of wc antibodies for my baby and will remain anxious right up till he gets his own at 2mo.
I'd have had it in different circs.

I had it as I had him in the winter and I was very run down and quite poorly anyway - I think WC would have finished me off frankly. And I wanted him to be safe after he was born.

I had a sore arm for a few days but no other side effects.
