Can a doctor help with travel sickness?

I'm thinking of going to see my GP tomorrow to see if there is anything he can perscribe me.
I suffer with terrible travel sickness and I'm going away on Friday and feel very anxious about the long journey.
I've tried everything from wristbands, OTC tablets, piroton and home made remedies. None work I even feel sick if I am taking a short journey.
I don't want to go if he will just laugh me out of his room but the last time I saw a doctor was 3 years ago for strep throat so it's not like I'm always in there bugging him Wink.

TIA

My DD suffers really badly and we were eventually prescribed ondansetron by our paediatrician in the US. I worked a treat and made a big difference. But I don't know if you'd get it for motion sickness in the UK though.... Worth asking?

I used to have really bad travel sickness so I feel for you.
My GP prescribed Motilium which was really good, I think you can buy it over the counter now.

Several of drugs my GP tried for my hypetemisis, he said he normally prescribed for motion sickness.

If your GP laughs you out of the room then you need a new GP! Seriously though, your GP should help. I have motion sickness too and my GP told me that 'there's no need to suffer in this day and age'. Hopefully the right drug ,can be found for you. Motilium was offered to me.
