Urticaria - again!

Any ideas?

Ds has got urticara on his tummy. He gets is at this time every year. He has had a peanut butter sandwich on seeded bread, but he has had that several times this week, and has only started having peanut butter this year (he is 3), yet always gets urticaria this time of year, ever since he was 1.

I have treated it with an antihistimine, but any ideas as to what is causing it?

Is it a heat rash , so you think?

I am prone to these.

KommandantColditz · 10/06/2006 15:55

hmmm. Could be. It has gone since I gave him the anti histimine, would heat rash do that?

It was certainly very itchy.

It could well be a heat rash, or a reaction to some pollen or plant. Does he sleep on his tummy? And if so, do you use synthetics or sheepskin? Both can cause skin reactions, especially if the person gets sweaty.

cotton sheets only - he clambers all over the place in his sleep - but he didn't wake with it, he developed it about an hour ago.

Heat rash seems likely though.

anti histamines do help my heat rash.

PrettyCandles · 10/06/2006 16:04

Do you put sunscreen on his tummy?

KommandantColditz · 10/06/2006 16:20

no, I don't because he doesn't go out side without a t-shirt on.

It's very odd!

pure aloe vera gel would help calm it down

It really does sound like heat rash. Which IME isn't particularly itchy, but then I imagine it could vary from person to person. I've never tried antihistamines for heat rash, but find that simply cooling and rinsing myself (all of me, not just the patch of skin) is effective both in curing it and in preventing it. So get the paddling pool out! Grin
