at my wits end horrible headaches cramps and serious bad mood and tiredness for 5 days now. period started today and its no better.
usually alternate between the headaches one month then cramp the next but this month both together and my mood is just terrible can't be bothered to do anything.
what can i do? i don't need contraception but would take anything that will help. i smoke and am under weight not sure if that will limit my options at all.
history of depression, ovarian cysts and eating disorders not sure if that's relavent but wanted to give as much info as possible also have a ds 4.

I will be watching this thread with interest. My mood swings can be terrible just before my period and I suffer with tiredness. I have been taking two spoonfulls of DS's liquid multivitamins for the past month and I did find I was not as moody and tired this month. So maybe I have had a vitamin definciency.

Have you had your blood count checked in case you are aneamic?

I really sympathise because pms is awful to live with. (Sorry I dont have any advice).

How old are you? How long is your cycle and is it regular?

I have suffered the past 2 years with horrific pmt, irregular periods, pain, heavy and erratic, migraines, the lot.

I've managed to give up smoking (without putting on weight and with a history of eating disorders I know how smoking can be a method of weight control), drink more water, sleep more and eat a better diet. Far more pulses, nuts and fruit than before. Exercising more.

I've also had a reem of tests done with nothing conclusive coming back. I went to a private dr in Spain who has prescribed me with noristorene for a couple of months.

The change is immense and I feel near enough normal. I'm a bit worried as its only a short term medicine. You can't take it for a long time and then after that I have cerazette. I'm going to leave it for a month to see if its all gone back to normal (I don't think it has).

My dr, however, is keen to get me on the coil. She says that it's better for pmt than the pill. I'm not so sure and tbh, I've heard more horror stories than good. At least if I don't like it I can stop when I want.

thanks for replies im 28 cycle is about 35 days pretty regular since having ds before that could be 6 weeks between periods. only had the headaches since having ds took me a while to work out its a symptom of pms.
I've not been tested for iron or vitamin but i would guess im not getting enough of most things my diet is poor at the moment.
i do exercise but there's room for improvement in all other areas. would my gp test me for iron?

Magnesium supplements did help me a lot, but now I think it might just have been a placebo affect. Worth a shot, though.

It does sound horrible for you and I think a chat with your GP would be in order.

Sorry to hear you're feeling like this. I have PMDD and after 3 dcs was getting horrific. I'm 40 and youngest is 21 mths. I was perscribed 10mg escitalopram and have been on for a year. Am looking to wean myself off because it doesn't seem to work.
Went back to doc to go back on the pill, Loette, and my goodness what a difference. Don't know if it will work for you but def worth talking to GP about.
Life for me and the family is a million times better.
Good luck
