If you've got any aloe vera, or an aloe vera cream that can be good.

If you have a natural baby balm that has ingredients such as beeswax, propolis, calendula, aloe vera, (any of these, not all of them) then give it a try, as these things can be good.

If you've got some honey in the cupboard, then could put some of that over the area too as can help - though suggest trial how it works for you on a small area first. The practical side / stickiness is an issue, but can help.

Take a bath, and soak for a while.

Best of luck.

Wet some flannels or towels and put them in the freezer. If you can then drape over the bites. I do this when I go to bed as I itch in my sleep. Put a dry towel on your sheet so the wet towel or flannel doesn't wet your bed. Confused

Best to bathe in a nice bath as long as you can

I spray myself with Moziguard some nights.

Vinegar is great for bites - soak a piece of kitchen roll in some and dab on bites - works a treat :)

DoveDovePigeon · 28/07/2013 15:54

Eat marmite so that you won't get any more

Take an anti histamine tablet - we are on hols at the moment and DD has some pretty nasty horsefly bites and an antihistamine tablet is only thing that has stopped her itching.

tabbycat15 · 29/07/2013 14:59

Anti histamine & calamine lotion is very soothing. The coolness takes down the redness & stops the itching. Anthisan cream is good for bites. A witch hazel compress may help.

I read somewhere that Mustard ,just good old english mustard ,will do the trick. I didnt have any bites then but remembered it this week when I had 2 that were so irritating they kept waking me up.

I squoze out a tiny bit of mustard onto my finger and swirled it round each bite. Well blow me down but it worked! Took about 5 minutes to kick in and I made sure to keep the mustard

Dh had a huge one -his bites always end up enormous and he has grudgingly admitted that the itch is 'less' - that is high praise indeed (and means there is no itch for him to worry away at Hmm)

Try it -at least its cheap and not messy.Grin

made sure to keep the mustard away from fabric
