'Fat' armpit and swollen glands - sorry bit long

This is one in a long list of health problems I have had over the last 6 months (constant headache being the biggest) and i still have no idea if all these things are related or not. Basically a month ago I noticed that my left armpit was puffy (right side fine) and looked fatter (rather than a lump) and went to the GP who referred me and I was given a mammogram and ultrasound and I was told that the swollen glands were normal reactive ones (I also have swollen glands in my throat on both sides and they scanned these too).

So GPs view is that these are nothing to worry about now and to ignore it - but no change in the last month (and armpit could have been like that longer as throat was already up for quite a while). I was also found to have fluid in both ears (and i have been having pains and problems with intermittent vertigo for ages - just thought it was the headaches). I have been so exhausted and generally down due to the headaches (diagnosed with chronic daily headache and migraines by neuro), low ferritin and also have borderline hypothryoid results, that I don't know if i would have noticed if i had a virus or something, though blood tests normal in terms of wbc etc.

So i suppose i am just asking if anyone has experienced anything similar? Why would my glands still be up? Starting to worry me :-(

thanks

Might you have had glandular fever? I had it and my glands were up for ages. There have been a lot of nasty bugs around this spring so your glands could have remained up fighting those. So long as not growing I wouldn't worry. Sounds like you're a bit run down - multi vitamins and more rest should help!

Thanks Longgone... wouldn't i have had a temperature though? I did get totally exhausted at one point but no sign of a temp or sore throat.

Not necessarily, immune systems are funny things. Sounds like you've had something which your glands have responded to. They might go down again or they might be scarred and remain up. Exhaustion and glands being up is pretty much my experience of glandular fever.

Thank you LongGone,
I hope you are right - I am having a bit of a freak out as it feels a bit more uncomfortable and possibly puffier then before so I am going back to see the consultant next week to jump up and down and try to get a clearer diagnosis.
