Oral Lichen Planus

Anyone have this as well? It's a pain, i can't stop messing about with it and i'm sure that just makes it worse. It's just on my inner left cheek at the moment and it's really doing my head in!

The worst this is i had all my metal fillings taken out and replaced with white ones when i was about 14, it went away and i've not had any problems since and now (15 years later!) its just reared its ugly head again, i thought i'd never have it again after have all the fillings out :(

Does anyone know the best thing to use to get rid of it or at least keep it at bay? Thanks folks.

I have oral lichen planus, it has got much better since I changed to a sulphate-free toothpaste.

Thanks for the advice, I will most definitely try that out! What brand do you use? I expect there are loads :)

It was the hospital consultant who told me to try sulphate-free toothpaste but when I asked in Boots they told me the only way to find one was to read the boxes. There are not many and none that advertise as 'sulphate-free'.

I used Corsodyl Daily Gum Toothpaste for a while however it made my teeth go brown and was not particularly good at plaque control so I hunted around again and found Sensodyne Pronamel is sulphate-free. It has got rid of most of the brown staining but not all so i guess i'm now stuck with it.

My gums and inner cheek look better now but I'm keeping my corsodyl in the cupboard in case I have a flair up, in which case I will use it for a short period as it has an antiseptic quality.

Incidentally my dentist didn't know about sulphates as being a possible irritant.

Have you had a biopsy recently? it might be worth talking to your dentist in case something else is going on.

Thanks for the info, really useful :) will be seeing dentist soon anyway so if it hasn't calmed down by then will ask her about it. Thanks again :)

Hi just wondered if you had any advice on oral lichen planus. I have it on my front gums and the more I read about it the more anxious I get, thanks in advance
