Gastric 'flu, or something worse?

I am v v ill. Started with fever in middle of night Saturday. Okish on Sunday. Couldn't eat Monday night. Stomach pains. Yesterday, was very very hot, unable to leave bed.

Lots of diahrea. Feel like throwing up, but since a bad vomit incident a few years back, can't face it.

I've not eaten much since Monday night. I get very weak (am still breastfeeding, and can't just liei in bed all day), so eat a bit, but then feel worse.

I have a lot of stomach pain, but it isn't sensitive to a gentle touch, so prob not append?

Haven't managed to sort emergency childcare for DS1, and am due to pick up a spare child from school today, and don't have contact number for the mum. I am crap.

I have been taking para, ibo, and codeine at night. Anything else I can take? Tempted to take immodium, but I generally take it when runny guts is only problem.

NQC, sound like you could do with a bit of help from your GP. Perhaps a stronger or more regular does of codiene? Some drs will also give a one off dose of ciprofloxin for infective gastritis to try to knock it on the head. I had a similar bug a few weeks ago and had to get some buccastem to stop me feeling sick so I could drink. Keep your fluids up and dont be tempted by immodium if you still have a temp. Immodium will stop your body getting rid of the bacteria causing the problems. Lot of fluid and dioralyte. little and often. MAybe your gp would give you some advice over the phone?

Hmm, codeine did seem to help a lot last night. I'm worried they won't want to give as am bf, might lie about that. (DS2 is 20 months, hardly like he's a newborn.)

codiene is absolutely fine whilst bfeeding. They should not be worried about giving you it.

Oh, support is more important than manners.

Have got local GP appt for 12:20 (!!). DS2 expected back at 1:30, so hope they're running on time.

Waaaay too much going on for this, I have had to try to scrounge up a swap shift for tomorrow, I am trying to sort out several NCT course messes, have just called the school to ask them to call the mum whose extra child I was meant to be picking up today (whose number I do not have, whoops), and ask her to make other arrangements. She is off to Ibiza today, so it's all a bit of a nightmare.

I still haven't got anyone to pick up DS1, but it will be his dad, or a family friend, we'll manage it however.

I remember the days when being ill was just about sitting in bed with trashy magazines!!
poor you, I really hope you do get better and get some proper rest!

I am too ill to read. I am never too ill to read. What a nightmare.

Sounds nasty. Sad Had something similar on hioldiday last year and it was well over a week before I ate anything, just Baxters Chicken Broth to begin with, and another week before I began to feel near normal. Basically lay in bed and did as little as possible, not read or even watch tv. Take lots of fluids , dioralyte (otherwise cokeor lemonade, clear tea), and probiotics in capsule or powder form. Not sure about codeine as had thought it may aggravate a dicky tummy and I'd avoid Immodium but you could perhaps use Buscopan for cramps. In my case because it perisisted over 4 days I had AB's. tbh it was a long time since I had felt so ill and washed out. Hope the dr can help and you feel better soon.
