Does this sound right for a UTI

Quick summary I started Saturday with really bad abdominal cramps, lower back pain, nausea & vomiting.

Went to the GP Monday morning & he said tummy bug/IBS flare up.

As the week has gone on the pain has got worse & worse and also started feeling lightheaded, went to the walk In centre yesterday and the doctor there said a UTI and started me on antibiotics, then last night it was the worst pain I've ever had all on the right side of my abdomen & lower back. I'm taking the max dose of co codamol and it's still really hurting, just doesn't seem to be improving, I'm trying to drink lots of water too. Does it sound like a UTI and I just need to give it a few more days or do I need to see my GP again?

If it is a UTI how l

It usually takes 48-72 hours for antibiotics to get into your system properly but I have heard people say that they notice a small improvement when they start the antibiotics. Uti symptoms usually are pain and burning when passing urine and your urine may also smell that with a temperature amd the pain, it could be that the infection is higher up ie in kidneys. Did the gp dip your urine or send it off to the lab?

If it was me and cocodamol wasnt touching it I would go back, hope you feel better soon.

When I had uti I had no urinary symptoms. I felt like I had bad flu and awful lower back pain. So it could be that, but antibiotics should kick in soon

Oh and no painkiller would touch the pain! Good luck, go back if things don't improve soon x

Thanks, she just dipped the urine & said it tested positive for infection, I've taken 3 lots of antibiotics now so I think I'll see how it goes during the day but if there's still no improvement later ill go back to the walk in.

Is the pain in your lower right hand side of your stomach? Is so, is there any chance it could be your appendix playing up? My daughter had to have her appendix out 2/3 years ago. She had central/right hand pain, starting vomiting green sick and at that point I actually put a thermometer on the inside of both legs and on the right had right it was considerably higher than the left. Obviously all cases are different, but it's good to rule it out.
