Hi, dd (14) has had this forever, very bad on upper arms and her legs are so bad, totally covered in little red bumps. We've tried lots of different moisturisers, exfoliators etc, been to the doctors and got creams but nothing has made any difference. Today the sun is shining and dd put some shorts on with a pair of skin tights :( she never gets her legs out she's very self conscious and today her elder brother upset her because he noticed the bumps!! She's so down and depressed about it, is there anything we can try. I've googled, read old threads etc. Am seriously considering letting her use the sunbeds that's how sad I feel for her. Have also heard that ilp? laser hair removal can work? Finding her in tears this evening, we've had a chat and I've told her i'll ask on here, we have heard that sun exposure will help so I've suggested she does that in the privacy of our garden, have kicked her elder brothers butt! Have read threads on here about flexitol? there's a few which one? Is it worth revisiting the gp, can see a different one as the first just said tough luck you have to live with it but here try this cream. Please help, thank you

Can I just say thanks to all the people who have contributed although it wasn't me that asked for advice. DH now has exfoliating gloves and hard foot cream so fingers crossed Smile

I've had kp ever since birth. I was blond and blue eyes. My Mum had kp too she was v fair skin and curly brown hair. I noticed that other family members had it if they were blue eyed too. But not brown eyed. Which is why I mention hair eyes and skin. I'm now 41 and skin still issue. I've always had sinus and fatigue Probs and brain fog too. Getting checked for all sorts as I am itching more and so so tired it affects my days. I tan well tho on my smooth areas but my thighs bum and arms are always kp . The sun does help tho. The winters do not at all. V dry itchy. I get my results next week. . All th best for you and yours. Don't over scrub too often either. Your skin won't thank you. Drink lots water and keep healthy as can.
Avoid the junk.
But chocolate. Well u gotta have some luxuries in life. Haha

I've read this condition is due to omega 3 deficiency??

elly333pink · 11/03/2016 20:12

I remember watching a doctor-type programme about this and they demonstrated how eating lots of oily fish or taking fish oil capsules helps and even cures this. It definitely made a difference with my daughter's arms.

duckduck, that's an interesting observation, my blue eyed dd also suffers from this as well as sinus and fatigue issues. We have coeliac disease in the family too.

conkerpods · 12/03/2016 08:36

I've had it all my life too.
I did try the Flexitol a couple of years ago but it's so thick and also expensive that I gave up.
I now take omega fish oils and I think this has definitely improved mine (I'm 39).
It's horrible when people ask if you have a rash Blush, especially as a self aware teenager.
Loads of good tips on this thread.

Somebody suggested Ameliorate to my friend. I will find out how she got on and will report back OP.

hollyisalovelyname · 17/03/2016 20:50

Ameliorate is so good my friend is repurchasing it.
Space NK do it.

Soap and glory clean on me shower gel
Random but I noticed a massive improvement with it, so I read the bottle and it's got fruit acids in it
