Fed up with hay fever season - any tips?

DP has hay fever. he hates cold weather, will only go on holiday in the sun but hay fever season arrives and all the doors and windows must be shut and he spends all his time off work in a dark room. I eant to fling open the windows and let the air in, have the patio doors open and relax in the sun.
What can he do to help the hay fever? Is there anything to be said for remedies like local honey or are they just woo?

What I find really helps is if I chop off my head, scrape out all the crap from inside and leave it in the fridge overnight, but that's just me not scuentically proved or anything. (hay fever also turns me into a bitch)

Is he on antihistamines or nasal sprays or eye drops. He can get help. Vaseline on the inside of nose helps reduce the pollen getting in the nose.

You can still relax in the sun, what's stopping you? What's he taking atm?

Drugs and lots of them I'm afraid is what is keeping us going chez Theas18 ( antihistame, eye drops and nose spray, fortunately the wheezy one is abroad and not suffering!). DS looked like he'd been punched on Thurs

Take a little comfort in the fact that the pollen count is into the ridiculous range because, as I understand it the weather has been so bad we are getting late tree pollen wth " on time" flowers as well. It should settle soon.

YY to what Musical said. I do the whole lot.
I also wear glasses or sunnies, all the time. I don't care if I look a twat, wearing sunnies when it's not that bright.
And I put a bed-spread over my bed in the day, and carefully remove it at night so my pillow isn't covered in pollen.

I do avoid mowing the lawn though, and I keep windows shut when that's going on.

Ooh, and on really bad days - like this weekend - I wipe my hair/DC's hair / the cats' fur off with a damp flannel if we've been outside and have come in.

Drugs
Haymax
Sunglasses
Honey did help me but it has to be taken every day for weeks before the hay fever season starts
Colleague swears by restricting dairy in her diet.

He needs to see GP.

Running a dehumidifier and ioniser at home has stopped me from suffering at night.

Antihistamines, sunglasses in a style that properly enclose my eyes, showering as soon as I get in & changing into 'indoor' clothes and closing windows in the evening when the pollen starts to descend, are the other things I do.

And this wont help many people, but wearing my contact lenses is amazingly effective. If I loaf in the house in glasses and don't " et up" properly for a bit , then my eyes are terrible. THe " bandage effect" of the lens stopping the pollen getting to my corneas really works.

(ditto onions. I thought my DD was a wimp as onions seems so milk these days, till I tried doing some with my glasses on!)
