Chronic telogen Effluvium...will it ever stop shedding? Success stories please

I've posted variously on threads before...I had very very very low ferritin diagnosed at end of November 2012 after 6 months of hair shedding. I've since been taking ferrous fumerate; saw a dermatologist in May who said it was likely TE, even though one of my sisters uses Regaine for FPB (but has always had very, very thin hair and show through on scalp).

The change in my hair is still fairly unnoticeable to others, as I had a LOT of hair. But I notice it. Pony tail hold is totally different, the curls are lank and lots of frizzy bits everywhere.

And I still get hairs coming out when i run fingers through. Some days more than others, but still....

Ferritin levels had gone from 4 to 30 by March, but dermatologist says that they should be over 80 for healthy hair; although he also said there is some contention over whether iron has a big part to play in hair health

MY POINT IS: when will it stop falling? And what if it doesn't? What if it develops into FPB?

I find it all so depressing and wonder whether I'll ever get back the 20-25% of hair I've lost.

Sorry to hear that you are suffering. Not good news from me. I started with it 11 years ago 4 mths after my daughter was born. It's never gone back right. I still shed & my scalp gets oily the next day. I'm naturally curly but I can't leave it curly as my hair just hangs thinly around the front. I had scalp biopsies done & the dermatologist then diagnosed Androgenic Alopecia. I tried various medications but had to stop due to side effects. I also had iron injections but it had no effect.
I don't think skin hair & nail supplements make any difference either as the problem is hormonal. I wear clip in hair extensions around my hairline to add thickness.

Also forgot to say I blow dry my hair straight & try to give done volume by lifting up at the roots. You could try a volumnising shampoo & products though I do find they leave a residue on the hair,
You can get professional shampoos for hair loss. We have one in Australia called Nioxin but it stung my eyes.
I love my GHD's. I can blow dry my hair straight so so can make it look decent. No one can notice my hair loss but I know my hair is not the same. I have little short bits around my hair line & it is thin on top & around
I was recommended the pill, Cyproterone, Spironlactone but didn't take them long enough to have an effect. They are medications to have a blocking effect on the testosterone to the scalp.
I was also told to use the Male Regaine foam to rub into the hairline. It's very expensive & I wouldn't be able to style my hair if I rubbed it in at night.
