If you got this as a grown up how did it affected you what symptoms did you have.

I got this when I was about 35, probably contracted from toddler DS, apparently at this age children only get mild symptoms. I had an on/off sore throat (not severe), and discomfort in the abdomen due to a swollen spleen. Other than that just felt generally crap and vvvv tired! I was off work for 6 weeks, but it took about a year to recover completely.

I got this at 40. Was completely exhausted all the time, even standing up was a challenge. Would wake up every morning with a banging headache & aching muscles. Wasn't until my neck became swollen that I went to GP & got diagnosis. Initial illness lasted about 2 months followed by shorter bouts of the same every 4 weeks or so for a year.

I had GF about 3 years ago - mid forties. I would get sore throats get a bit better then get ill again, each bout got progressively worse. Finally my throat was so swollen that I could hardy swallow and couldn't sleep. This went on for months.

I was absolutely exhausted and remember being so tired once that trying to hold a conversation felt like torture. I didn't want to bother the doctor so didn't get tested for quite a while. I wish I'd found out sooner because I would have had an "excuse" for taking the rest I needed, instead of that I soldiered on, which was a mistake.
