Have had ongoing problems with bowel since botched c section.

I am now very sore, stomach large almost from the ribs down, not having bowels open regularly.
I have gained 6lbs in 3 days
However if I cut carbs then I can lose the same in 3 days.

Don't know what to do but it's getting me down

Could be - the bloating from wheat sounds familiar. Is it worse if you have white bread? It is for me.

Are you getting cramps/ spasm type pains? They seem fairly common with ibs.

I think I've read ibs can be triggered by trauma to the gut - a nasty bug perhaps or I guess surgical trauma maybe?

I'd get some fibre for the constipation and start mainlining peppermint tea. A hot water bottle will help too.

How's your diet been lately?

Mosschops30 · 01/07/2013 22:23

My diet is excellent during the week then shocking at the weekends.

It's the body shape I can't handle, I seem to have developed middle aged spread overnight Grin

I don't eat white bread so I don't know. But I feel much better without rice/pasta/bread etc

Probably best with a gp trip.

Rice is a safe food for me - I think it has no gluten (?). Pasta is ok. Bread must be in moderation and white processed stuff is bad

Try drinking loads too and some stretching. Pilates almost fixed me the other week after a hellish weekend! :)

Great thanks. Have booked GP appointment but don't want to go Hmm

It's horrible discussing bowel movements etc but worth it if you can get rid of the premature 'middle age spread' :)

Hope the gp is helpful!

Sounds tough, I am glad you have a doctor's appointment, to quote that well known medical expert Del Trotter "You know it makes sense".

I'd stay off coffee and raw vegetables for now. Drink lots of water and peppermint tea.

If it is a problem with gluten, avoid wheat, (including spelt, farina, semolina, cake flour, matzo and couscous), barley and malt.

So skip things like bread made from wheat or rye, breaded fish or chicken, soy or teriyaki sauces, beer, licorice.

It may be something entirely different, see your GP.
