2yo girl has infected toe wound -- what should I do?

Should I take to GP or try to douse it with disinfectants (hydrogen perioxide)? It's red with a scab, clearly swollen, had it about 10 days but hasn't spread to other toes. We thought it was a blister & have been slow to do anything. Just doused it with H2O2 and it went all bubbling so reckon it must be an infection.

Sensitive to touch but don't think it otherwise bothers her.

is there any pus or other oozing? my dd trapped her finger a while ago and the nail bed got infected & started discharging (it also didn't bother her) - ended up being treated with a course of antibiotics.

Has the red swollen bit got any bigger recently? If the infected area is spreading then it would be a good idea to take her to GP I think. If not just keep an eye on it - put a plaster on it during the day to ease the pressure from shoes etc - and if it doesn't go down then take her to GP.

Or just take her anyway!

Thanks -- no oozing. Not 100% sure but don't think the red area is spreading. Friend was nagging me to get her seen, today (friend tends to nag...alas) , but I felt like we hadn't done anyting to tackle it 1st ourselves, and it wasn't really (?) getting worse, so maybe give it home-treatments 1st...?.

zebra, my 2yr old ds had the same not long ago. I treated it at home at first, but then I had a dr's appointment, so I took him with me just to get the doc to check it out. By then poor DS2 couldn't stand anyone touching his feet cause he was now in pain with it. Doc gave me antibiotics for him and it cleared up quite quick.

I'd say take her to the dr's if it doesn't look like it's clearing up at all (even if it's not getting worse). Just me though

Update:
Wednesday night DD wouldn't let us put covers over her toe. Thursday am she wouldn't even walk on that foot; boy is it a pain having a 2yo who won't walk. Mad dash around house to try to get DS to playgroup and me ready to cycle miles across city to take DD to walk-in NHS clinic. During which time I misplaced the only back door key and had to leave the door unlocked in our high burglary rate area.

(Cue panic attack from me, but that's another story).

Went to nearest Doctor's surgery instead, even though we aren't registered there; we only moved here 1 week ago. Bless them, they saw us and prescribed anti-Bs.

DD hates the potion but is good enough to drink it anyway. Besides getting her back walking within hours, The anti-Bs have had interesting side effects of A) clearing acne on her face & B) clearing her bad night-time cough she's had for a few months. I could almost become a fan...

DH found the back door keys in the washing machine this pm... Want badly to blame DD, but given her limited mobility on the day, seems more probable my scatty brain that put them there.
