Temporary GP/hospital transfer while pregnant

I live in London but intend to finish the last 3 months of my pregnancy and give birth at my mums in Scotland. I also want to stay for 1 month after that. So 4 months in total away from home, and I'm trying to work out what to do about my GP and hospital care. Everything I've googled refers to visitors from overseas being able to apply for a temporary 3 month GP. But I'm not from overseas, I'm born and bred in Britain. I don't intend to stay at my mums for any longer than 4 months, but will I only be able to get a maximum of 3 months NHS care away from my registered address? I won't have any proof of address at my mums so I can't sign on permanently while there...... Just not sure what to do. They can't deny me the care I require especially as the last month I'm staying will be the early days after I've given birth. I'm just not sure how these thing work. I hope that makes sense. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I think you need to plan to be in the area for six months to register with a GP (poss different rules in Scotland) but you can certainly give birth away from your home area, and there are provisions for this after birth, not sure about the antenatal care. With the cross-border aspect of it as well it's quite tricky (although obviously not impossible).

Have you been booked in to the midwifery service? I'd start off with them, and with your current GP practice, to see what advice they have. Then I'd try PALS at your CCG. After that I think I would try NHS Scotland and see if they know where to direct you.

Will keep thinking.

Thanks tribpot. I'm planning to drop into my local surgery tomorrow and ask but I'm pretty sure the receptionist there won't know whether things are different in Scotland. I'll maybe get my mum to ask at her surgery also.
