Enamel loss on front teeth following hyperemesis

I'm in pain everyday at the moment due to my top and bottom front teeth. Since I had my dd's when I suffered hyperemesis my enamel is wearing away more and more so that half of my front teeth look see through. They are now really sensitive as well and I am scared that they are just going to snap Blush.

Does anyone know what can be done? I have discussed it with my dentist at my last check up in February and when I told him my teeth were sensitive he just told me that it was not that cold so should not hurt and to use a sensitive toothpaste. I have tried using pronamel toothpaste even though my teeth are way beyond it helping but I think I am allergic to this as it makes my teeth hurt even more and the insides of my cheeks become sore and swollen so that I keep biting my cheek. This is really getting me down and all I can think about is teeth which is probably making me feel the sensitivity more.

My top front teeth have always been slightly see through at the bottoms. Every dentist I have seen have all said they are fine and some people's teeth are just like that.

Am now concerned that they have been wrong and I should be worried. Eek. Last went to the dentist about a few months ago and again nothing was mentioned.

Well mine were see through only at the bottom originally and I think that is fine I am only worried as it is now two thirds of the tooth that is see through one third solid looking, so I wouldn't worry.

What do you mean by 'see through'? If the enamel has worn away then the teeth will be yellower as the Dentine underneath is yellow.

Like classified I have always had slightly see through front teeth at the bottom.

So translucent teeth IMVHO point towards erosion on the inside (palatal) surface of your top teeth which is typically from acidic drinks which when you think about how you drink from a glass, wash over that surface of your teeth. Other causes can be bulimia or gastric reflux.

The back of my front teeth that have practically dissolved!

My dentist has filled it all and I think she said 'sealed' it. All sorted now though.

I use Colgate pro-sensitive toothpaste and I really notice the difference if I run out and have to use different toothpaste for a day or so.

Yes they are see through looking from the front but if I look in a mirror at the back of the teeth then they are yellow so it sounds like what you are saying mrsmorton.

Thanks for replying Mrs Bungle I am glad that it just took fillings to help sort yours as looking at dentist prices as mine is private vaneers etc cost a lot of money.
