I really need help with this now as it is really upsetting me. I am excessively sweating at night to the point i wake up & am wringing wet. My pjs are soaking wet and my bed sheets are completely sodden. This happens no matter what i wear, heating on or off, window open or shut. I wasnt like this before. My partner says it started when i got pregnant. Now my baby is nearly 4 months & i just want to wake up & not feel disgusting. Anyone have any idea what it could be?

I had similar after DC2 was born although it seems to have reduced recently (he's 12wks now). I was told its the body's way of losing all the excess water taken on in pregnancy. I have no idea if that's right though! Have you seen your GP?

No. Thinking of going on Monday now as i dont think its the environment around me. It's really upsetting me now so i'm.going to go. Hope its nothing life threatening :-(

I had this after dc were born, was told same as Ethelred for reason. Think it was over by 4 months though.
Do go to GP as can be symptom of many diff things - I have also suffered pre dc and had all manner of blood tests, scans & X-rays. Was freaked out by the possible diagnoses - think early menopause at 27 was best option - but was nothing sinister in end and I was glad to have been reassured.

Thank u both. Terrified of early menopause or ovarian probs. Will go Monday and let u know :-(

I have this too and presumed it was my anti depressants as it was listed as a side effect . Am gonna go to Dr too as it is making me annoyed too.

do you have a memory foam mattress? I find them very warm and I sweat like a horse on them.

wallpaperaddict · 15/06/2013 22:25

Are you breastfeeding? I only ask as when I was breastfeeding this happened to me every night between 2-3am and I remember reading it was a hormone for milk production that caused it.

RandomMess · 15/06/2013 22:26

My night sweats only went 6 months after I gave up breastfeeding.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 15/06/2013 22:26

I had it while breastfeeding too, but it had gone by 4 months. Good luck at the doctors

I had this when my thyroid meds were very slightly overdosed. As you have had a baby I assume your thyroid was checked but it may be worth getting it done again.

I thought I was going through the menopause but once the meds were tweaked it stopped.

Thanks all. Going to try and get an appointment today. Iwas breastfeeding for 8 weeks. But not any more. Havent been for 2 months now. So maybe thats it ... But my partner insists it happened when i was pregnant too. Im not on any meds other than the pill. I will let u know what doctor says.

I had this after dc2 and it stopped when i got pregnant with dc3 so hoping it doesn't return! I've had all sorts of tests done and nothing found.

Isn't it a hormone called
Prolactine? That's what I was told when I had the night sweating in pregnancy.
