He said woke up on train to hideous pain in right side.

Says sort of cramping. Doesn't think it wind, maybe constipation although he went this morning. Has used a glycerin suppository and drunk extra large dose of lactulose and nothing.......

He feels slightly nauseous but not been sick at all and is at present prowling round the house pulling sore faces.

I am 17 weeks pregnant and have had shit time so sympathy is not my forte at present so have sent him up upstairs to use bathroom up there away from me and roll about in the spare room.

Any ideas?????

You would think so the noise he is making!

Listen, if you (or he!) is worried, get him seen by OOH. Tonight.

If he is normally fit and well, can cope with the pain, he can ride it out. He may or may not pass some grit or small stones.

He should see his own GP and be referred for investigations.

IF I am right - diagnosis by interweb forum is a risky business.

Give him all the painrelief you can and then decide yourselves whether he needs RL help.

They say renal colic pain is comparable to labour, so have sympathy with him. IF I am right...

appendix is on the right hand side of person - on the left as you look at them if that helps.

PacificDogwood · 14/06/2013 21:42

Ha! Brilliant x-post!

PenguinBear · 14/06/2013 21:42

Could it be trapped wind? I had somehing very similar the other week, lasted almost 24 hours and was trapped wind!

CinnabarRed · 14/06/2013 21:43

Seriously, OOH. The level of pain you're describing needs to be looked at.

thenightsky · 14/06/2013 21:44

DH had this loads and it woke him up in the night and everything. He has since cured it by going gluten free as much as possible. He's suffered this pain for 30 years till now though.

Appendix I had a few years ago, so I know symptoms of that very well and it doesn't sound like your DH has it from your description OP.

vitaminC · 14/06/2013 21:45

Sounds like a kidney stone! Has he had them before?

Madamecastafiore · 14/06/2013 21:46

It's his left hand side.

Judging by the brass band noises in the boudoir last night his wind is floating free!

Have given him 2 paracetamol and 2 ibuprofen and am going to fill up hot water bottle and see how it goes.

Will make him come down to our bedroom incase he is properly ill and if not cleared up by morning will pack kids into car and go to A&E.

Thanks guys.

He bought posh steak and asparagus and we were going to have a romantic evening due to me not letting him near me for the last 4 months! Maybe stage fright!!! Confused

What did 111 say?

PacificDogwood · 14/06/2013 21:54

I have never heard of performance anxiety leading to this amount of pain Grin.

Hope tonight goes ok.

Do not hesitate to go to A+E (ring 999 if you cannot take him - this is the kind of stuff they are actually there for as opposed to the man who called 999 for the thumb he sprained last week )

Madamecastafiore · 14/06/2013 22:06

Waiting for them to ring back. Said they would get him appointment???

Will have to take DCs too though!

Mind you would it be terrible to leave DS asleep with 13 year old dd in our bed???

PacificDogwood · 14/06/2013 22:19

Is there not a neighbour/friend who could stay with them?

InsanelyBrainDeprived · 14/06/2013 22:25

Can you not call someone to sit with them? It's probably quicker and better to get him seen to to put your minds at rest rather than try to deal with emergency dash if it comes to that

Madamecastafiore · 14/06/2013 22:27

Fecker is now snoring.

Nhs lady not rung back but am I right to think can't be that bad if he can bloody well sleep.

I'm going to be up all night worrying and editing for phone to ring!

Thanks for the ideas and hand holding guys!

How did the night go, Madame? And how is your DP now?

Hope all is well.

Madamecastafiore · 15/06/2013 17:18

After sleeping soundly clutching his water bottle all night he is perfectly fine, thank you.

Dr rang and reckoned something was spasming!

Thank you everyone for all your advice, was seriously worried at one point!

OP posts:
BigBoobiedBertha · 15/06/2013 17:41

Glad he is OK.

Perhaps he might have got himself into an awkward position falling asleep on the train. Usually it is a crick in the neck for most people but maybe he managed to get his body into a strange position and it was muscular rather than gut related. My DH had a muscle spasm in his side once from sleeping weirdly and thought it something worse than it was.

Hope he has been looking after you today to make up for yesterday and the worry! Smile

Madamecastafiore · 15/06/2013 18:04

Sounds exactly what it was Boobie. He seems to think something to do with 3 pasta meals in a row and eating late the night before too!
