Injection into plantar fascia

Has anybody had this done? The physio offered it to me, but I declined, telling that I'd try self care to heal the problem myself. It's sort of working, but is still painful to walk on and the six weeks summer holidays are coming. I was thinking about an injection around this time, so at least I'll be able to walk around properly.

How painful is it as I've heard it's very bad? [scared emoticon]

I've had 3. Two of those were done by my gp and the last one done under ultrasound at the hospital. Pain wise they're a bit of an ouch but not terrible. Didn't work for me but I do know people that they've worked for and the relief they've got was worth the 20 seconds of pain from the injection. Honestly they really are not that bad x

Yes, I have orthotics and am being referred back to orthotics for a new pair because these are getting too old.

I can only take one ibuprofen gel cap a day because of stomach lining irritation. I have been icing and also rubbing Piroxicam gel on.

It's been going on for almost a year and I've fed up with the pain.

I have had one injection done by the GP, relatively painless but didn't work. Had another one by NHS physio which hurt like hell but worked. You have my sympathies PF is horrid.

My mum is a podiatrist , she does acupuncture.
She cured my pl. fasci. doing this and a
Also the foot of a very disbelieving friend who was at the point of trying anything and was amazed and delighted when after 1 treatment could acutuallyput her foot in the floor without pain......

I've had the injection for plantar fasci-itis (sp?) The injection was a bit uncomfortable but boy, was it worth it. Absolutely fantastic (steroid &local anaesthetic injected at the same time) I've had this done twice now. The next morning I was amazed at no pain at all. Go for it -or try the acupuncture as mentioned above-no experience of this but sounds worth a go.

Had the jab, cured the problem. Bloody hurt for half a minute as it went it? But not a twinge since

I also had accupuncture, but mine was done by an osteopath who was qualified in it. Helped hugely, in about 8 sessions. A year and a Briton, I am still pain free.

You can also use a foot or Pedi roller to help ease the tight tendons/muscles in the foot. I use mine twice a day for a couple of minutes each time and it makes a massive difference. I got mine from Boots for less than a fiver.
