I've had a stress headache for a couple of days
caused due to family/work issues that aren't going anywhere
have DT to look after so can't rest all the time

any ideas how I can get rid of it? paracetamol doesn't do anything and I've tried tiger balm but doesn't help

Have you tried drinking lots and lots of water?. you could also be dehydrated - but if busy don't realise.

I sometimes think Ibuprofen works better for headaches on me. Have you any of that?

Hope it goes soon.

superbagpuss · 11/06/2013 18:18

thanks
I am trying to remember to drink
have issues with iprofen as it sets of my asthma
co codemol just sends me to sleep and I'm worried about not hearing DT at night, although dh will be around

Stress headaches are the worst. IIs it one of those that is there when you go to bed at night, and wake up with it again?

Can you have a small glass of wine this evening, just to try and unwind a little? Sometimes, it is just what you need.

superbagpuss · 11/06/2013 18:25

yoni it is all the time, permanent pain with waves of feeling sick and double vision

That sounds more like a migraine than just a stress headache Sad

The other thing to try is drinking coffee - something to do with helping to dilate the blood vessels at the base of your skull (I think!)

Is there any chance you could get someone to help you with child care while you go and have a couple of hours of kip?

Yonihadtoask · 11/06/2013 18:28

):

Maybe you should see the GP. Could it be migraine?

superbagpuss · 11/06/2013 18:31

Make the most of the rest time.

Hope your headache goes.

But migraine headaches can last for several days.

Kurby · 11/06/2013 18:45

My husband suffers terribly with these type of headaches and sometimes migraine. We have tried all sorts of remedies, been for acupuncture (which helps) he is also on Trepilline which is to prevent headaches.
Aspirin Research trials suggest that aspirin, at full dose, is probably the most effective drug for easing a tension-like headache. In one study, 3 in 4 people reported relief of headache two hours after aspirin. Have you tried a combination of the two?

superbagpuss · 11/06/2013 19:10

haven't tried aspirin as we never buy it and this happens about once a year so never think about it

off to bed now, thanks for all the advice Smile

Hey guess what sugarbagpuss, I hope you feel a bit better. My husband has another appointment this Saturday because of these headaches and I will let you know if I pick up any useful advice for you. So I'll be in touch cause "headaches" are a real pain!

bizzey · 12/06/2013 10:46

Pulling up a chair and waiting for Saturday to see if Mr Kurby was told any thing helpful Smile

I had a thread last week about this actually ...I did not know if my headaches were mild migraines or not.

OP hope you are having a good sleep now and feel better soon

superbagpuss · 12/06/2013 13:18

hi

What drugs have you taken? Are you trying to hold out for as long as you can before taking anything? If so, this is the wrong way to deal with it. With a migraine (which I think you really do have) you should take something immediately you feel it starting.
