Breast cancer screening in men....I've got a question.

Hi, does anyone know the answer to this? Obviously women have a mammogram as the mainstay of their screening procedure but what is the procedure (in practical terms) for men who are shaped differently? Does anyone know please?

Purely a guess but if a guy finds a lump they would be referred by their GP to a breast clinic and they would use ultrasound and biopsy if required? Don't know about routine screening though.

So far as I know, there is no routine screening for men. It is only possible for women after the age of 50 as the tissue becomes less dense - there would be no equivalent way to "look" through men's breast tissue.

I have very small breasts and was sent for a mammogram. I was worried that the would not be able to image me. The radiologist assured me that she would and that even men can have mammograms if needed.
